A legendary figure in the world of late-night, O\u2019Brien has had a career in television that has lasted almost for almost three decades, and with his slight ragamuffin style and quick wit, has kept us endlessly entertained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, not many people are aware of the fact that O\u2019Brien has actually amassed a pretty impressive collection of watches along the way. This is largely due to a combination of Conan\u2019s self-deprecating humor and the fact that, as a person, it\u2019s not in his nature to call attention to that sort of thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Conan O\u2019Brien?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Conan O\u2019Brien is an American comedian, writer, television host, producer, and podcaster who was born on April 18, 1963, in Brookline, Massachusetts. He is also a cousin of fellow Bostonian and comedian Denis Leary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O\u2019Brien\u2019s career formally started in 1987, when he worked on the writing staff of Saturday Night Live.\u00a0 During the Writer\u2019s Guild Strike, O\u2019Brien would go on to Chicago for a period of time and put on an improvisational comedy revue called Happy Happy Good Show, which would feature contributions from future comedy impresarios Bob Odenkirk and Robert Smigel. He would leave SNL in 1991, citing burnout and the need to take a break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would then join the writing staff of The Simpsons, a position which he would hold from 1991-1993. Among the episodes he worked on, he is best known for writing \u201cMarge and the Monorail,\u201d a parody of the Music Man that is considered to be a series highlight among fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards the end of 1993, David Letterman was preparing to leave Late Night, which forced executive producer Lorne Michaels to look for a new host. Michaels wanted Conan to produce, but by that point, he was far more interested in performing, and he would successfully audition for the host position of that show.\u00a0 He would continue his tenor there until 2009 when he was offered the position of host for the Tonight Show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, O\u2019Brien would only last in that position for a year due to a combination of low ratings and prior host Jay Leno wanting his old job back. This caused a great deal of outrage among both fans and the comedy community, who were fiercely loyal to O\u2019Brien during the entire debacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, TBS offered Conan his own half-hour talk show, which he hosted since 2010 for the network with longtime co-host Andy Richter. O\u2019Brien is currently planning a variety show for HBO Max which will debut sometime in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
