The Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213 is a uniquely exceptional Panerai timepiece. Under its beautiful scratch resistant “Corundum” sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is an automatic movement which powers its chronograph mechanism. It has a built in rattrapante complication which allows the user to record multiple split second time intervals that start at the same time but don’t end at the same time. This unique element allows the wearer to record multiple laps in a race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Panerai Calibre OP XVIII gives the timepiece a 42 hour power reserve. The movement is based on the Valjoux 7753 and contains 31 jewels, and beats at 28800 vph. The chronograph features are handled by the two pushers at the 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions. However the split-seconds, or rattrapante, feature is handled by the pusher at the 8 o’clock position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The luminescence of the hour markers, hands, and inner dials, is exceptional. This is further fostered by the black dial which is adorned by the tachometric scale around the edge. The scale features up to 400 mph or kph notations, and is different from the Rolex Daytona since the scale appears on the dial itself, rather than on the outer bezel. This gives the Panerai a more dressy look to it and is less of a tool watch like the Daytona. Also, it has one less circular dial to clutter its more streamlined appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small seconds dial appears at the 9 o’clock position, and the split seconds is shown at the 3 o’clock position. The Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213 is COSC certified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case is a reasonable 44 mm, smaller than some of the other Panerai timepieces. It has a thickness of 18.7 mm. Not meant to be a diver, this timepiece still sports 330 feet of water resistance. And it still has the locking mechanism to protect the screw-down crown. The timepiece comes with a calf-skin leather band and Panerai Tang clasp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rattrapante complication is highly sought after by collectors due to its complexity and rarity. Adding to this, the popularity of the chronographs like the Rolex Daytona have driven up the frenzy for all kinds of automatic stopwatches. Therefore, this Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213 has seen its value rise steadily as collectors have discovered its existence and limited availability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closest option on the Panerai site today is the much larger 47 mm Luminor Regatta Chrono Flyback. However, the pushers appear on the opposite sides of the timepiece and the 3 o’clock dial is different. Rather than showing the 10, 20, 30 numerals, the Regatta shows the hour markers with 3, 6, 9, and 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as beautiful as the front of the timepiece is a view into the Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213 back side. The inner skeleton of the timepiece reveals the stunning design at work, with polished steel inside and out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch Straps for the Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rubber B has designed 9 straps for the the Panerai reference PAM213. There are 6 primary color options and 3 dual color options. The steel case and black dial gives owners quite a bit of flexibility on how to adorn this timepiece. Nearly any of the solid-color bands<\/a> from Rubber B would match it exceptionally well. Although the black band gives the timepiece a dress-suit appearance, the white, yellow and red bands would give the timepiece attention-grabbing color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slight green\/tan of the luminescent paint lends to the dual color “Vulchromatic” bands<\/a> which have a black base and a colored stripe that goes down the side of the strap adding both interest and color coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the Rubber B bands for the Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante PAM 213 utilize the “Blocked Integration” engineering for a flawless, motionless flush mount to the Panerai case. It is precisely calibrated for the 44mm Luminor 1950 case. A 316L stainless steel tang buckle is included, but it also fits the original Panerai tang buckle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
