IWC PILOT TIMEZONER CHRONOGRAPH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The IWC Pilot Timezoner Chronograph is an incredible timepiece for jet setters, pilots and for people that do business in multiple timezones. The features of this timepiece are second to none. It has a beautiful look – a black dial with a black leather band. Even the bezel which contains the various timezones is black with a white print. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hour markers are an Arabic white print that pops out nicely against the black dial. This is important because with a watch with so many features it is hard to stand out and present the basic time features. However, the IWC Pilot Timezoner Chronograph does a beautiful job. It has a reference IW395001 and it has a 2-year plus 6-year extended warranty – totaling 8 years of limited coverage. Not bad for a timepiece with so many functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IWC Pilot Timezoner Chronograph<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Listed at a very reasonable $11,900 the IWC Pilot’s Timezoner Chronograph packs a planeload of features in this Pilot’s watch. To begin with, it is significant. It has a 46 mm case and is still water resistant to 200 feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chronograph is one of the most sought-after sets of features around. Due to the popularity of the Rolex Daytona, the chronograph capability will be the most coveted component of this timepiece. However, since this is primarily a pilot’s watch, pilots can feel good about having not only a timepiece that can both satisfy their needs for a powerful chronograph but also be able to keep up with their need to quickly change time zones with a snap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chronograph features are powered by the two pushers above and below the right-side winding crown at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. There is a totalizer at 12 o’clock. There is an inner ring with an Orange hand which provides a 24-hour display for the world timing function. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 3 o’clock there is a date window. It has a small hacking second and a flyback function. More than all of these things, this is a timepiece made for flight. The Sapphire glass is not only anti-reflective and scratchproof, it is also secured against displacement by drops in air pressure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to set the watch to another time zone, the wearer needs to push down the bezel, turn it to the desired time zone and let it go. The hour hand, 24-hour day\/night display, and the date automatically move with the bezel. The time zones that have daylight saving time are marked with a small \u201cS\u201d on the rotating bezel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To create the mechanism required for this complication, IWC\u2019s engineers brought together three technologies. The first of these is the city ring found on the Pilot\u2019s Watch Worldtimer, on which the name of each city stands for one of the international time zones. The second technology is the spring-mounted rotating bezel, first used in the Porsche Design Ocean 2000 from the 1980s, which can only be moved if pressure is applied simultaneously on two diametrically opposing sides. This prevents accidental resetting of the time zone. The third technology is the external\/internal rotating bezel taken from the Aquatimer, which transmits the movement of the bezel via a differential gear to the hour wheel, 24-hour hand, and date advance wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 89360 calibre was introduced in 2007. It was the first manufacture chronograph movement to be completely developed in Schaffhausen. It is based on the highly respected Valjoux 7750 but takes on some unique features. It beats at a frequency of 28800 vph and is constructed with 39 jewels and 323 components. It has the C\u00f4tes de Gen\u00e8ve decoration features throughout the beautiful movement including perlage (small circles) which can be visible from the back of the timepiece.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timezoner component includes the names of 24 cities displayed on the bezel. Each name represents each of the international time zones. In order to change to the desired time zone all you need to do is press the bezel down with the thumb and forefinger on opposite sides of the bezel and then turn so the small S appears just before the city name of your choice. Then, the hour wheel, 24-hour display, and date will advance or jump to your chosen zone. Each zone represents one-hour jumps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
