This article is going to take a closer look at the watch collection of an actor who, over the last decade, has achieved a significant amount of prominence \u2013 Tom Hiddleston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To most international audiences, Hiddleston broke through with his role as the mischievous prankster Loki in 2011\u2019s \u201cThor,\u201d Kenneth Branagh\u2019s Shakespearean foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What many people may not know, however, is that the actor is also something of a watch aficionado. In honor of his many successes, we will take a closer look at the life, career, and watch collection of Tom Hiddleston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Tom Hiddleston?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thomas William Hiddleston was born on February 9th<\/sup>, 1981 in London, England to Diana, an arts administrator, and former stage manager, and Dr. James Hiddleston, a physical chemist. His parents divorced when he was twelve, and he has been quoted as saying “I like to think it made me more compassionate in my understanding of human frailty” regarding the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has a younger sister, Emma, who is also an actress, and an older sister, Sara, who is a journalist who is currently based in India. At the age of seven, he began his first experience at a boarding school, when he went to Windlesham House School. He would then move on to the Dragon School at Oxford the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the age of thirteen, Hiddleston began attending Eton College, and he would eventually go on to attend Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge, where he would earn a double first in Classics. During his second term at Cambridge, he was seen in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire <\/em>by a prominent talent agent. He would proceed to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, eventually finishing his studies there and going on to graduate in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Hiddleston\u2019s Early Show Business Career<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While he was still appearing in student plays, Hiddleston would land two small but important parts in BBC television productions \u2013 one in an adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby, and the other as Winston Churchill\u2019s son Randolph in a television film of \u201cThe Gathering Storm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After formally graduating from RADA, Hiddleston would receive his first role in a proper feature film, playing the part of Oakley in Joanna Hogg\u2019s \u201cUnrelated,\u201d which was also the director\u2019s debut feature as well. His sister Emma also appeared in the film in the role of Badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would also appear in a production of \u201cThe Changeling\u201d in 2006 and \u201cCymbeline\u201d in 2007. For the latter of the two shows, he would go on to win a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play, which is a highly prestigious theatrical award to receive in England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2008, he would appear in Othello with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor, as well as Anton Chekov\u2019s \u201cIvanov,\u201d which would see him working with Kenneth Branagh for the first time. This would prove to be a hugely fateful meeting for both men, but especially Hiddleston, as it would directly lead to him being cast as Loki in \u201cThor\u201d several years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thor and International Success<\/strong>    <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After working with Branagh on \u201cIvanov\u201d and \u201cWallander,\u201d a television program, he invited Hiddleston to audition for him for his new film project \u2013 Thor. Speaking about the experience, Hiddleston has stated that “Ken has had a life-changing effect. He was able to say to the executives, ‘Trust me on this, you can cast Tom and he will deliver. It was massive and it’s completely changed the course of what is available to me to do. Ken gave me my break.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ironically enough, Loki was not the part Hiddleston was asked to audition for at first \u2013 it was Thor. Recalling the experience afterward, he noted “That was what I was being considered for, because I’m tall and blonde and classically trained, and that seemed to be the mold for what Thor was, he was to be a classical character. And it was in my auditions. I owe this entirely to Marvel and their open-mindedness, they saw something that they thought was interesting. They saw some temperament that they liked.”  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His appearance as Loki in the 2011 film would be an immediate hit with audiences and cause him to receive his own television series as the eponymous character, which premiered in 2021 on Disney Plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also notably appeared in the 2016 miniseries adaptation of John Le Carre\u2019s \u201cThe Night Manager,\u201d which saw him working with famed South Korean director Susanne Bier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
