Jamie Dornan was born on May 1st<\/sup>, 1982 in Holywood, Northern Ireland. His father, Jim, was an OBGYN, and his mother, Lorna, passed away of pancreatic cancer when Jamie was 16. He has two older sisters, Liesa and Jessica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He attended Methodist College Belfast, where he played rugby and also appeared in the school\u2019s dramatic performances. He would go on to attend Teesside University but would drop out before completing his coursework to pursue acting full-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamie Dornan\u2019s Early Show Business Career<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dornan would work as one-half of the folk duo Sons of Jim, which disbanded in 2008. Although he was initially reluctant to do so, he would, at the behest of his stepmother and sisters, go on to attempt a career in modeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would go on to model from 2003 until 2006. He modeled with Malin Akerman for Abercrombie and Fitch, and would also appear in ads for Hugo Boss and Armani as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mainstream Success as an Actor<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, Dornan would appear in his first film as a supporting player in Sofia Coppola\u2019s Marie Antoinette<\/em>. He would then go on to appear in several other films over the next couple of years, though none of them were breakout roles for the model-turned-actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in 2011, he would finally begin to find mainstream success. Ironically, this would not come in a film role, but from a television appearance. He would play the role of the Huntsman in ABC\u2019s Once Upon a Time<\/em>, and his performance there was well-received by audiences and critics alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years later, in 2013, he would go on to appear on another popular television show, The Fall<\/em>. Filmed and set in his native Ireland, Dornan would play the role of menacing serial killer Paul Spector. He would garner awards and acclaim from critics as a result of this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, he would appear in the lead role of Christian Gray in the erotic drama Fifty Shades of Gray. <\/em>This role would manage to bring him to the attention of international audiences in a way that he had not achieved previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
