Since the early 2000\u2019s, Ludacris has been one of the most prominent members of a group of rappers from the Southern United States, particularly Georgia, that have gained national prominence. He managed to parlay a successful career as a rapper into an acting career, including being a part of the long-running \u201cFast and the Furious\u201d film franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third entry of our four-part series, Rubber B will take a closer look at the life and career of the man who, while known for his various incredible talents, including music production and acting, has provided much of the comic relief for the \u201cFast and the Furious\u201d series for over a decade. We will also take a look at his watch collection and his highly impressive collection of cars as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Ludacris?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris was born Christopher Brian Bridges in Champaign, Illinois on September 11th<\/sup>, 1977. As a teenager, he would move with his family to the greater Atlanta area, and he would become greatly associated with the city from a professional standpoint in later years. He is notably a cousin of the late comedian Richard Pryor, as well as the singer Monica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris wrote his first rap at the age of nine and then would join an amateur rap group at the age of 12. In his early years, he worked as an intern and DJ at Atlanta\u2019s Hot 97.5. Through that job, he would meet the producer Timbaland, who would help him later with his second record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris\u2019s Early Show Business Career<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris would independently publish his first album, \u201cIncognegro,\u201d in 1999. Many of those songs would later appear on his major label debut, \u201cBack for the First Time,\u201d which was released during the following year. Songs such as \u201cWhat\u2019s Your Fantasy\u201d and \u201cSouthern Hospitality\u201d would appear on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris has currently recorded nine studio albums, with the most recent release, \u201cLudaversal,\u201d appearing in 2015. He recorded the soundtrack album for \u201cKarma\u2019s World,\u201d his children\u2019s show on Netflix, which was released in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c2 Fast 2 Furious\u201d and Acting Career<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ludacris made his film acting debut with a small role in \u201cWash,\u201d a crime comedy starring Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg, in 2001. However, it was his role as Tej Parker in 2003\u2019s \u201c2 Fast 2 Furious\u201d which would properly see the rapper fully begin a second career as an actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since that initial appearance, he has reprised the part of Tej an additional six times, most recently in the upcoming \u201cFast X.\u201d He has appeared on a number of television shows as well, including \u201cLaw and Order: Special Victims Unit,\u201d where his character is related to Ice T\u2019s Sgt. Odafin Tutuola.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of the \u201cFast and the Furious\u201d franchise, Ludacris\u2019s most recent television project has been \u201cKarma\u2019s World,\u201d an animated children\u2019s show that premiered on Netflix in 2021. It was named after and inspired by his daughter, Karma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
