Who is Eddie Redmayne?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eddie Redmayne was born Edward John David Redmayne in Westminister, London, England on January 6th<\/sup>, 1982. His mother, Patricia, owns a relocation business, and his father, Richard, works in corporate finance. He began attending the Jackie Palmer stage school at the age of 10. It was there that he would discover a deep interest in acting and singing alongside classmate and future talk show host James Corden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eddie Redmayne\u2019s Early Show Business Career<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Redmayne actually began his career not in film or television, but in the theater. In 2002, he would play the lead role of Viola in Shakespear\u2019s \u201cTwelfth Night\u201d at the Globe Theater. Four years later, he would make his film debut as the lead role of Alex in the Australian thriller film \u201cLike Minds.\u201d

He would continue working steadily for several more years, including appearing in historical pieces such as \u201cThe Other Boleyn Girl\u201d and independent dramas such as \u201cPowder Blue.\u201d He would develop a reputation for appearing in biopics, which started with 2011\u2019s \u201cMy Week with Marilyn.\u201d The film was well-received and caused Redmayne to be noticed by film critics for the first time, leading it to be something of a small-scale breakout role for the actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His next two films would prove to be some of the most important of his career. 2012 would see him star in \u201cLes Miserables,\u201d as Marius, one of the young men fighting for freedom in the French Revolution. Redmayne did his own singing for the role, which impressed many critics and fans alike.

He would appear on screen again two years later in 2014, playing Dr. Stephen Hawking, the legendary physicist, in \u201cThe Theory of Everything.\u201d Redmayne would go on win an Academy Award for his role in that film, winning the trophy for Best Actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
