The Rolex Sky-Dweller is an interesting timepiece for Rolex.\u00a0 Although it doesn’t have the same kind of following that a Submariner, GMT or a Daytona has, it does have one niche group that happens to love this timepiece.\u00a0 American NBA players seem to admire the Sky-Dweller, and it could be seen on LaBron James’ wrist as well as the newest champion Giannis Antetokounmpo.\u00a0 Could it be because of the central ring in the center of the timepiece that looks like a basketball?\u00a0 Possibly it is because it has two timezones and can help keep the jet-trotting players in synch with time zones at home and away simultaneously.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rolex Sky-Dweller<\/h2>\n
The Rolex Sky-Dweller is the youngest timepiece in the Rolex collection.\u00a0 It was launched at Baselworld 2012 amidst tremendous acclaim.\u00a0 It is a large watch for Rolex with a 42 mm Oyster case.\u00a0 More importantly the Sky-Dweller is Rolex’s first annual calendar, and it has a GMT function allowing 2 time zones at the same time.\u00a0 The impressive and creative design of the Rolex Sky-Dweller has led this timepiece to become popular for airline pilots, traveling businessmen and sports stars.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The reference 326139, comes in 18K white gold, and a black dial. Among the other Sky-Dweller watch models, this reference (326139) is considered the most sporty designs, with its red accents and black dial. This model comes with an alligator watch band.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n At 42mm this timepiece is larger than most Rolex timepieces but smaller than some of the 44mm ones. It has a new Caliber 9001 movement which features a 72 hour power reserve, and the GMT function through a 24 hour center disk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The unique feature of the Sky-Dweller includes not only this GMT function, but also the Month display which appears tastefully through one of the 12 apertures around the circumference of the dial. You can see in the picture below, there is a red appearance in the aperture at the 12 o’clock position. This gives you the accurate date of January XX. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2 times are represented by the normal hands and the red downward arrow at 12 o’clock pointing down at the circular disk. Although some people might want to keep the same time on both time mechanisms, it is easy to alter it to a new timezone in a flash. For example, if you are on a plane from Eastern Time zone to Central, it is easy to switch the GMT function to the 2nd time zone when you land. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Sky-Dweller comes with multiple models<\/a>. It is also the first of the Rolex premier models to get the Oysterflex band as an option over a metal band. You can get a Yellow Gold, Pink Gold or White Gold Sky-Dweller. There is also a Rolesor version and a mixture of Stainless Steel and White Gold, for a spectacular contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rubber B has two strap models that work precisely with the new Rolex Sky-Dweller. The Classic series pictured above supports the original Oyster Rolex Clasp that comes with the steel band. It tightly connects to the Rolex case using “Blocked Integration,” which is a unique technique that allows the timepiece to leave no gaps between the lug and the timepiece case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rubber B also has a new Swimskin model band that looks and feels like real Kevlar but is actually 100% vulcanized rubber.
