Bands for the Rolex Milgauss<\/h2>\n

Before we discuss Rubber B’s selection of bands for the Rolex Milgauss, let’s look at its illustrious history.\u00a0 The Rolex Milgauss<\/a> was the first timepiece of its kind.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Created in 1956 for scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, the Rolex Milgauss was designed to work without being affected by magnetic fields of 50 to 100 gauss \u2013 common for scientists at the CERN laboratory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The word \u201cMille\u201d is French for 1000, and Rolex set as its goal to create a timepiece with protection from magnetic interference up to 1000 gauss.<\/p>\n

At first, Rolex created a shield inside the Oyster case made of ferromagnetic alloys to protect the movement–an early \u201cFaraday Cage\u201d. \u00a0In addition, the stainless steel used on the case is slightly thicker than other Rolex models.\u00a0 This was quite effective and achieved the goal of reducing magnetic interference on the Milgauss.<\/p>\n

However, more recently Rolex has adapted paramagnetic materials, such as the Parachrom hairspring, to dispel interference.\u00a0 In a timepiece, the oscillator is what keeps consistent time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rolex developed an oscillator hairspring from niobium and zirconium, which are insensitive to magnetic fields and 10 times more resistant to shocks.\u00a0 So, not only is the resulting Milgauss resistant to magnetic fields, but it is also highly shock resistant.<\/p>\n

The Milgauss Ref 116400 features a 40 mm Oystersteel case and steel Oyster bracelet.\u00a0 It has a twin-lock double waterproof system that supports a diving depth of 330 feet.\u00a0 The white dial has highly luminescent hour markers and minute and hour hands that create a long-lasting orange luminescence in a dark lab setting or diving into murky depths.<\/p>\n

The Caliber 3131 movement has a power reserve of 48 hours.\u00a0 Most notably the dial has a bright orange seconds hand that is shaped like a lightning bolt with an arrow at the tip.\u00a0 Around the dial are markings (for the second’s hand) at 5-second intervals, starting at 5 and ending at 60.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The newest version of the Milgauss has a lime sapphire crystal inside of the polished steel bezel–creating light reflection and preserving optimal legibility.\u00a0 This is a new enhancement that only adds to the history of \u201cfirsts\u201d in the Rolex Milgauss design history.<\/p>\n

Rubber B has developed more custom watchbands for the Rolex Milgauss than any other company in the world.\u00a0 To begin with, Rubber B has developed three types of band closures for the Milgauss \u2013 supporting the original Rolex clasp, utilizing a Rubber B 316L Stainless Steel Tang Buckle, or the Industrial Strength Velcro Closure. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In all, Rubber B has 17 custom variations for the Rolex Milgauss and a stunning selection of colors to complement the colorful Milgauss \u2013 including bright orange or white bands which match the Milgauss dial coloring.<\/p>\n

All of the bands designed for the Rolex Milgauss by Rubber B incorporate Blocked Integration for a tight motionless fit to the case.\u00a0 The Rubber B alternative bracelets for the Rolex Milgauss are made in Switzerland of pure vulcanized rubber \u2013utilizing NO coating, blends, or bonding.<\/p>\n
