Patek Philippe created some of the world’s most exquisite and complicated mechanical watches ever since its foundation in 1852. The results are very costly and mostly inaccessible to most watch collectors in the collection of Patek Philippe. The Aquanaut 5167 is priced at the lower end of the universe of Patek Phillppe but it remains superior to many other luxury brands watch models and is just a great introductory watch for collectors who want to work with this brand.
The case of the 5167 Aquanaut is relatively slight, making it an easy to use casual daily watch. The case has satin and beautifully polished contrasting textures. The Aquanaut is water resistant to 120 meters, fitted with a screw-down crown that makes it ideal for all kinds of water activities. With the Patek Philippe Calatrava cross the coronation is signed. The watch is available in gold or in steel and has an optional bracelet or rubber strap. This watch is also available.
The dial is a matt black dial with a curved board pattern that recalls the latitude and length of the globe. Each hour mark is placed on hands, Arabic numerals and boxes. A square date indicator is displayed on the Aquanaut at the third hour.

The beating heart inside the Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref. 5167/1A is the automatic calibre 324 SC. Indoors. This is the exact same movement in Patek Nautilus Ref 5711/1A, with several innovations incorporated by Patek Philippe.
The Gyromax ® balance wheel and its slotted pull weights are included in these models. And the Silinvar ® Spring of Spiromax ®, which maintains a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement, equipped with a 21k gold Central Rotor, offers a maximum power supply of 45 hours. The completion is also reproachable. Côtes de Genève, circular graining, bevelled steel parts and bridges. All visible through the sapphire caseback.

- Take the buckle out ofthe ends of the strap.
- used two sowing needles to hold the band in while checking the fit of the band after each cut. Be patience to re-fit the pins after every cut
- cut one slot from each side.
- fit buckle back on - this I found important as it gives a good indication of how many slots need to be cut off. ...
- repeat step two and three until you get a fit where you can stick a couple of fingers between the buckle and your wrist*.
- Remember to put the watch on your wrist after each cut, close the deployant buckle and see how it aligns. If you use needles be careful so they do not fall out or they don't pinch you.
