BB58 – When first announced at Baselworld in 2018, the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight quickly became one of the most-talked-about watches of that year (alongside its bigger sibling, the Black Bay 41). Why was it such a big story in the watch world? Well, the BB58 did an excellent job splitting the difference between upending the Black Bay archetype and offering a practical style with a transitional smaller Tudor case size which opened the door for men with normal wrist sizes. Tudor was finally beginning to listen to the public, who had been craving a smaller option such as the Black Bay Fifty-Eight for many years, while the popularity of the Black Bay series had been growing exponentially since its release.

The Movement of BB58
While you cannot always enjoy viewing the Black Bay Fifty-Eight’s movement due to the solid case back, it still remains a particularly important part of this watch. The in-house Tudor caliber MT5402 is a fresh movement that was created specifically for this BB58 watch. so as to urge the Black Bay Fifty-Eight’s dimensions down. Tudor couldn’t use an existing movement from its Black bay arsenal, so they invested in creating the brand new MT5402 movement, to the appreciation and acclamation of Tudor watch collectors everywhere.
The MT5402 is smaller and thinner than the caliber than previous larger Black Bay models with a MT5602 movement. That movement is 31.8mm in diameter, while the MT5402 is simply 26mm across.
