Panerai announced that the Panerai Limited Edition Luminor Submersible Acciaio PAM00731 will be sold in limited quantity – only 100 pieces – through its online e-boutique. The Italian designed Panerai Luminor Submersible Automatic Acciaio – Reference PAM00731 has a 44mm diameter and is made from 316L polished stainless steel – making it highly resistant to corrosion and extreme environmental conditions.
The PAM00731 is powered by a Panerai caliber OP XXX, which has 25 jewels and operates at 28,800 vph, provides a power reserve of 50 hours. This caliber is the successor to the OP III, which was adopted from the timeless Valjoux 7750 calibre. The OP XXX is also used on the PAM01024 which is the black dial version of this timepiece and it is a COSC certified chronometer.
The PAM00731 is a diver’s timepiece which provides water resistance to 660 feet. The counter clockwise rotating bezel with graduated scale helps measure the diving immersions with a satisfying ratchet click at each minute interval. The date window at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 10 o’clock provide balance to the dial. The creamy luminescent coating on the Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 and the hour markers, hour/minute hand tips and small seconds windows, provide exceptional visibility in dark settings.
The Panerai is well known for its large crown and locking mechanism to protect the crown from accidental water seepage due to an improperly screw down seal. There are unique touches on the bezel not often found on other timepieces. The 15, 30 and 45 minute markings appear around the outer bezel to further provide accuracy while diving.
The Rubber B Vulcanized rubber straps are precisely calibrated for 44mm Luminor Submersible cases. This strap utilizes “Blocked Integration” engineering for a flawless, motionless flush mount to the Panerai case. A 316L Stainless Steel Tang Buckle is included with each strap. However, this strap also perfectly fits the original Panerai tang buckle.
