The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio – 44mm– Reference PAM00653 is inspired by the classic yachting timepieces of the past. On the back there is a beautiful engraving of a yacht with the inscription Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. The pusher at 8 o’clock zeroes the chronograph hands and immediately restarts them. The stop and reset pusher is placed at 10 o’clock.
The chronograph is powered by the calibre P.9100 — designed and created by Officine Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. It utilizes a Glucydur® balance, a KIF Parechoc® anti-shock device and has a 3-day power reserve. It has an hour and a minutes hand. The seconds is in a small seconds on the dial at the 9 o’clock position. There is an hours counter in a small dial at the 3 o’clock position. The white and beige hands act as the chronograph minutes and seconds hands. The chronograph pushers are on the left side of the timepiece allowing for the chrono flyback and seconds reset functions.
The reference PAM00653 has beige hour markers and luminescent markings on the hands which turns a blue-green in darkness. Arabic numerals are displayed on all positions except at 3 and 9 o’clock where the small dials are placed. The tachymeter scale in knots printed on the flange, which enables the average speed of the yacht over a particular distance (one nautical mile) to be measured by the chronograph minute hand.
The PAM00653 has a 44 mm case with a polished steel bezel and case. The large winding crown is protected by a brushed steel lock-down mechanism which is a trademark of Panerai.
The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio – 44mm– Reference PAM00653 is water-resistant to 300 feet. It is protected on the front by a Sapphire crystal formed of corundum. Even in darkness the black dial and greenish luminescent hue make and impressive statement. The Officine Panerai timepiece is fitted with a Calf Assolutamente Dark Brown bracelet with beige stitching on the 24/22 mm lugs.
