Rolex, SA has joined in on the rubber strap phenomenon. They recently introducing their new line of “Oyster–Flex” straps.  Initially these straps support the 2015 Yachtmaster and the brand new 2017 Daytona. Rolex only produced a limited number of gem-set Datejust watches that came with their own rubber strap with inlaid diamonds. This new foray into rubber straps for sports models certainly broadens the field of strap options available to Rolex enthusiasts.  Rolex does not have Watch Straps for the Rolex Sky Dweller built-in Oysterflex at the moment.  They do not offer multiple color options or dual color bands either

The Oysterflex on my Sky-Dweller is super comfortable for daily wear, giving it a sporty feel. The Rolex Sky-Dweller is the newest Rolex to roll out of the Rolex brain trust. It is unique because it combines two of the most sought after complications in the watchmaking world. It has both an Annual Calendar and a GMT function.

The GMT function of the Sky-Dweller is treated uniquely in thise timepiece. The local time is represented by the standard hour, minute and second hand. The date window appearing at 3 o’clock closely follows the standard local time hands and jumps to the next day immediately at midnight.

The 2nd time zone GMT function is represented by the inner dial representing a militaryesque 24-hour time dial featuring a big red rectangle showing the hour for the 2nd zone.

The Month is represented by a Red appearance under the 12 apertures in the dial disk. Each aperture represents one of the 12 months of the year. The one with the red appearance is the current month. So, for example, if the red appears in the aperture at the 1 hour marker, it represents January.

The Sky-Dweller is larger than many Rolex timepieces, at 42 mm. However, it has many of the standard features found in most Rolex timepieces including the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the cyclops lens over the date window, and it has a base water resistance of 330 feet.

The fluted bidirectional rotating Rolex righ command works in conjunction with the screwdown crown in order to help quickly set the date, month, time and 2nd timezone time.

The new Sky-Dweller is powered by the new 9001 caliber which is made wholly in-house. It has an amazing 72 hour power reserve and self-winds perpetually in both directions. It has a Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and high performance Paraflex shock absorbers. The 9001 is made with an impressive 40 jewels and contains 380 components.

All Rolex calibers are certified chronometers. They are tested by the Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) to function with an accuracy within -2/+2 seconds per day. The reason why celebrities love the Rolex Sky-dweller is because it is a gorgeous timepiece with excellent features.

Rolex offers multiple versions of the Sky-Dweller today. You can get the Oystersteel and white gold version with either a black, blue, or white dial. It comes with a choice of the Oyster bracelet or Jibilee bracelet. On some models there is also the Oysterflex bracelet option. You can also get the Sky-Dweller with 2-tone Gold and Steel (rolesor), yellow gold, or Everose gold. The Everose gold version has a grey “slate” dial, chocolate dial, and intense white dial option. The Gold and 2-tone versions come with a Bright black, Champagne, or Intense white dial.

Rubber B offers many bands to accompany the Rolex Sky-Dweller. The Classic Series offers a band that utilizes Rubber B’s unique Blocked Integration engineering for a flawless, motionless flushmount to the watch case. There are 4 two tone bands including black and red, jet black with satin black, chocolate brown and black, and chocolate and red. This perfectly fits the original buckle provided by Rolex.

Alternatively, Rubber B recently released the Rubber Cuff series which has the appearance of a Kevlar combat strap, but is actually 100% rubber. Sewn with Hydroturf Marine Thread, and tortion tested for extreme strength, this band can withstand water, UV-rays and more. This model has a 316L Stainless steel buckle.
