As one of the preeminent innovators in the production of custom rubber watches straps, Rubber B loves when we have the opportunity to celebrate other companies who share our spirit of innovation and exploration, especially if they have a hand in the world of horology. And when one thinks of innovation, it is hard to find a company that has innovated our world more in the last two decades than Apple.
Being that they revolutionized the personal computer, cell phone, and the way we listen to music, it was only a matter of time before Apple decided to get involved in the fitness tracker/digital watch space and begin manufacturing the Apple Watch. The watch is one of the most highly rated fitness watches currently available on the market, and it has become particularly relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reason for this is the Apple Watch was one of the first fitness trackers that allowed you to measure your blood oxygen using an app on the watch. This is notable because low blood oxygen is a symptom of the novel coronavirus, so being able to take that measurement at home likely helped to save people’s lives during the pandemic by encouraging them to call their doctors and be tested.
However, being that Rubber B are experts in the production of custom rubber watch bands, we thought it would be appropriate to learn more about the different types of watch straps that are currently available for purchase, as well as offer recommendations as to what we think the best watch strap for the Apple Watch is. Before we go into more detail about these straps, we need to spend a few moments discussing how to change the straps on an Apple Watch.
How Do You Change The Watch Bands On An Apple Watch?
Thankfully, it is relatively easy to change the watch straps on an Apple Watch, and you can do so at home without the usage of any special tools. To begin with, place a small cloth down on the area where you are planning to place the watch while you are changing the straps. This is important because it will ensure that you do not scratch the glass face of the watch while you are switching out the bands.
Once you placed the cloth down, place the watch on it and turn it over. Hold the watch with one hand, or place it on the cloth, and press one of the two release buttons you see on the back of the watch – one will be located above the other. While holding down the release button, slide the watch strap of the corresponding button to the left or the right and slide the watch band off. Once this is done, you will repeat the process with the other watch band and slide that one off as well.
Installing the new watch strap on your Apple Watch is still relatively easy, but it is slightly more complex than taking the old watch bands off. At the outset, you will need to look at your strap closely to see how it should be positioned on the watch. Some bands have loops or other types of features that can be flipped upside down or put on backward if they are not attached correctly. If the new strap is a loop band, make sure that both sides of the band are correctly placed on the watch.
Once you have ensured that the band is correctly in place, slide it into the correct notch on one side of the watch. You will know that the band is correctly snapped into place when you hear an audible clicking sound. Afterward, you can test the band to make sure that it is securely held in place. You can do this by twisting the watch band around lightly to see if it moves at all. If fastened incorrectly, the band should not move around at all. Once this is done, you should repeat the process for the other band as well.
Making sure the replacement band is installed correctly is important to ensure that the Apple Watch does not fall off of your wrist and become damaged or lost. If you take care of your Apple Watch and properly maintain it, it will last for many years to come and provide you with a wealth of information about your health during that time.
What Are Some of the More Popular Watch Straps Available For the Apple Watch?
There are several watch straps that are currently available on the market for the Apple Watch, the majority of which are manufactured by Apple themselves. Some of the more popular straps include such models as the following:
- The Apple Sport Loop is a nylon watch strap and is one of the most popular choices for the Apple Watch. This makes sense, considering the watch is a fitness tracker and the nylon strap is meant to be used while you are working out. However, it is more than comfortable enough to wear during everyday use as well.
- An alternate choice in activewear watch strap is the Apple Sport Band, which is made from silicone instead of nylon. It is waterproof and also specially designed for exercise, so it has many of the same features as the previously mentioned strap.
- The Apple Milanese Loop is Apple’s answer to a formal watch band and looks great when paired with more formal dress wear. It has a stylish, soft metallic look, but also be prepared that it costs a little more than the average watch band.
- The Nike Sport Band is a specially branded Nike watch band that is compatible with the Apple Watch. It comes in a variety of different colors and is specially designed to be ergonomic and exercise-friendly.
