Early Life

Daniel Dae Kim is a Korean-American actor and producer, he was born in Busan, South Korea on August 4th, 1968. Daniel Dae Kim and his family then immigrated from South Korea to the United States when he was only one year old; Daniel Dae Kim grew up in both New York City and Pennsylvania. In 1990, Daniel Dae Kim graduated from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania with double bachelor’s degrees in theater and political science. Afterward, Daniel Dae Kim then went on to accomplish a Master of Fine Arts degree at New York University’s graduate acting school in 1996.

Career

Daniel Dae Kim is a television star that has made appearances in many notable shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Star Trek, Charmed, NYPD Blue, ER, and others. Daniel Dae Kim is the founder of the production company 3AD and is currently producing the ABC television show The Good Doctor. Daniel Dae Kim is the executive producer of The Good Doctor and decided to make an appearance acting in the second season of the show playing the role of Dr. Jackson Han as the chief of surgery.

Kim was a regular cast member on the ABC series Lost from 2004 to 2010, playing Jin-Soo Kwon, a humble Korean fisherman-turned-hitman who crashes lands on a mystery island with his wife, Sun-Hwa Kwon (Yunjin Kim). He claimed that because the job required him to talk completely in Korean, he was obliged to swiftly study the language, which he had not spoken with much frequency since high school. 2 – 2010-2017 – Hawaii Five-0 – Chin Ho Kelly

Detective Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly was a former member of the Hawaii Five-0 Task Force and a highly accomplished HPD detective before being wrongfully accused of corruption, resulting in the tarnishing of his career and reputation.

Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett then recruited him to Five-0, and it was later revealed that Steve’s father, John McGarrett, was the one who taught Chin to be a cop.

Chin briefly rejoined the Honolulu Police Department following Governor Pat Jameson’s murder and Hawaii Five-0 was disbanded, but once Steve was exonerated, Hawaii Five-0 was reactivated and Chin formally rejoined the squad.

3 – 2016-TBA – In the film ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Daniel Dae Kim will play Fire Lord Ozai in a Netflix live-action series.

Variety has reported that Daniel Dae Kim will appear in the Netflix live-action series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

He will play the character of Fire Lord Ozai. The character is portrayed as the brutally driven monarch of the Fire Nation who expects everyone, especially his teen son, Prince Zuko, to live up to his unrealistic expectations. Ozai’s desire to conquer and unify the globe under fire bender dominion is a familial burden – he feels it is his destiny to complete a battle begun by his forefathers. Mark Hamill provided the character’s voice in the animated series.

Kim joins the previously announced Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu in the series. Cormier will portray Aang, and Kiawentiio will play Katara. Ousley will take on the role of Sokka and Liu will play Zuko.

4- 2021 – In the Disney animated picture Raya and the Last Dragon, Chief Benja.

Benja is the chief of Heart, Raya’s father, and the Dragon Gem’s keeper. He taught Raya sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat so that she, too, might be a guardian of the Dragon Gem. His sword-fighting abilities have earned him the moniker “the deadliest blade in the five lands.” Benja’s purpose is to unify the five lands in order to rebuild Kumandra. In an endeavor to unite Heart with the other territories, he created the bridge that joins Heart to the mainland.

He tries to create peace by inviting the other tribes to dinner, but his efforts are thwarted when Fang attempts to take the Gem, culminating in the Druun’s return and his death. He is brought back to life following the Gem’s restoration, happy with the realization of his desire and Raya’s moral improvement.

Kim performed as the King of Siam in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, from June 12-28, 2009. Kim made his Broadway debut as the King of Siam in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I from May 3 to June 26, 2016, at the Lincoln Center Theatre in New York.
