Tudor has a healthy offering of timepieces that mimic their big brother brand (Rolex). Hans Wilsdorf, of Rolex fame, unveiled the Tudor line in 1946 with the intention of coming out with a lineup of timepieces priced for the common man. Although the Tudor emblem has changed from a rose to a shield, the models continue to retain a similar design, including bracelet, dial and case, to the Rolex timepiece. The Tudor Glamor Day Date Reference 56000 is nearly as breathtaking and opulent as the Presidential Day-Date offered by Rolex.
The Tudor reference 56000-0049 pictured above has a polished steel 39mm case and a distinctive black dial. Ten diamonds are positioned for each of the hour markers with the exceptions of 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock which, like the Rolex Day-Date, show off the day of the week and day of the month, respectively.
The Tudor Glamour Day Date is a perfect dress watch, but is protected by a sapphire crystal and supports waterproofness to a depth of 330 feet. It is powered by a self-winding caliber 2834 which provides 38 hours of power reserve.
The hour, minute and seconds hands are designed with a cut out Feuille shape. The hands are in silver steel coloring on the black dial model, but the seconds hand on the silver dial model is in black.
The reference 56003-0035 has a double dial in steel and yellow gold sports a champagne-colored dial. The winding crown is also in yellow gold on this model.
All the timepieces pictured above are with a black leather band. However, the models are also offered with the option of stainless steel or with a mixture of steel and yellow gold (Rolesor).
