This is particularly true for rose gold, which is generally known to fade and sometimes turn to a more greenish color over time. Rolex has managed to slow down this process significantly by using a mixture of yellow gold, copper, silver, and platinum in their rose gold mixture.
In this particular instance, the addition of platinum to the mixture helps to slow down oxidation, which allows the rose gold to maintain its intended pink color for a much longer period of time.
It should also be noted that people sometimes have a difficult time distinguishing between the white gold and stainless steel watches, as they do have a very similar look at first glance. However, if you place the watches next to one another, the white gold has a warmer look than the stainless steel, so it becomes a bit easier to tell them apart after a few moments.
