How to Pick the Right Band for Your Watch

If you want to know how to pick the right band for your watch, we are here to help. We know that if you are looking to replace your own strap, or looking for a gift for someone else, you are going to face a challenge. There are so many options, styles and colors, that choosing the right band might be a daunting task. The CEO of Rubber B is here to help. She helped us answer the below questions just for you.

Rubber B offers so many watch band styles and colors, we wanted to know how style of the watch affects which band someone should buy?

You should enjoy your unique tastes and styles. Don’t worry about what others think. Today you can just as easily wear a vulcanized rubber strap in the boardroom and at a gala as you would on the beach or when wearing jeans or shorts.

You have so many colors to choose from and different styles that either support the deployant buckle, the velcro buckle, and the tang buckle, that style really comes down to personal tastes. You should feel that the strap you are wearing is part of you. It is your taste and comfort that matters.

And you don’t have to be stuck to wearing one type of strap. It is easy enough to change the look of your watch just by changing bands. You can change the color, and completely change the style fairly easily and cheaply, and do it all without buying another expensive watch.

This is the reason we created Rubber B. We wanted to give owners the ability to create a style all of their own. We know that fine watch owners of Rolex, Panerai, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Tudor, and Roger Dubuis, have invested a great deal of money and time to find a perfect timepiece that fits their personality. However, the steel or leather bands that came with the timepieces limited how the owners could wear them.

The Jet Black rubber straps dressed up the timepieces and were actually more comfortable to wear. In fact, wearing a black band appears more luxurious than wearing the original gold or silver metal band. We started seeing businessmen wearing Rubber B bands during the day with their expensive suits, and not just when they went sailing or diving. Brides started to wear Rubber B bands at their wedding!!

Then we started introducing other colors – Arctic White, Navy Blue, Mandarin Orange, Red Devil, Pine Green, Military Green, Canary Yellow, Charcoal Grey, and now we have over 18 different colors with our i-Unique series.

We really wanted to give people options to put their crocodile strap or metal strap aside and have some fun. Watch owners wanted a way to express themselves and mix things up when the mood hit them, or if the event dictated a different look than what the “manufacturer” intended.

Why couldn’t a bride wear a white band with her wedding dress? Or a yellow band with their summer dress? Men might want to turn some heads with a Red band, or pay homage to their military roots with a green or blue band.

And of course, there is the all-purpose black band. Black bands never go out of style and look good on most any watch. Since all of these bands are rubber, it is easy to continue wearing your timepiece at work and at play. A little sun, sand and sweat won’t warp, damage, or affect these rugged, yet comfortable, watch bands.

Leather Bands on top of Rubber base

What About the Leather Bands?

Yes, we know that so many people loved the look of leather, but it just didn’t wear well. They wanted the leather look, but the rubber durability, strength and comfort. So, initially we came up with the very popular Structure Series which combined both the real leather on the top with a vulcanized rubber Base.

This series of watch bands could be used on any timepiece. Although most of our bands are specifically designed to fit a specific watch model, the Structure Series changed that. These bands could be added to any watch type made. You just needed to measure your Lug Width and choose between the 18mm, 20mm or 22mm.

We started with the two most popular types of leather – full grain leather and alligator leather. They have slightly different looks. We added both black leather and brown leather bands. But we also kicked it up a notch when we introduced the black leather band with a Red Devil rubber base. That was such a unique look, and our customers loved it.

Combat Straps made with pure vulcanized rubber
What About the Popular NATO Style Bands?

We really wanted to address the NATO lovers out there who wanted a vulcanized rubber version of the combat strap. We know how many people wanted the look and feel of the canvas NATO strap, or the 2 layer band that has a military look to it. However, we know that canvas straps don’t clean well, don’t last long, and can have a rough feel to it. So, we developed an all-rubber version that we call the Swimskin Rubber Cuff Series.

This series has all the same features that a combat strap would want, but it is pure vulcanized rubber. The texture is the same, but these straps can last much longer, and retain its shape, while being easier to clean and more comfortable to wear.

Bands that can be fully customized and personalized.
What is iUnique?

As we started to really get into the many options the bands could have, we wanted to give watch owners of any watch (not just Rolex, Panerai, etc) the ability to own a uniquely stylish band that fit their specific tastes and band size. We had so many ideas for colors, textures, clasp options, and we wanted to come up with a unique way to deliver vulcanized rubber bands to our customers.

So, we came up with a way for people to customize their bands completely and even add an engraving to the band afterward. We came up with the iUnique website. Here you can pick between multiple different textures (which are all still 100% rubber). Then you can choose between 18 colors, and even change the color of the stitching and the buckle used. After all of that, you can engrave something special under the band itself.

Because all of these bands are vulcanized rubber, you could swim or shower in them even though they have the look and texture of real fabric and other designs you might see in the market.
