The IWC Pilot Watch Chronograph IW377714 is one of the more unique aviator watches. Not only is it an aviator, but also a chronograph. This combination isn’t found in many timepieces that are intended for pilots. For example, the Daytona is built for car drivers, not pilots. And the Rolex GMT was made without any Chrono functions whatsoever.

This chrono is built with a caliber 79320. It is an in house movement with 44 hours of power reserve and built with 240 components, 25 jewels and beats at 28,800 vph. It is protected by a sapphire crystal.

The glass is secured against displacement by drop in air pressure – a key feature for aviators that experience high pressure at lofty altitudes. Its soft iron inner case protects against magnetic fields. The seconds hand can be hacked with the winding crown. It supports a waterproof depth of 6 bar.

It has a combination day of week and day of the month window at the 3 o’clock position. The two pushers at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions control the 3 chronograph dials at 12 o’clock, 9 o’clock and 6 o’clock. This timepiece has seemingly no function left on the workbench, as it has so many features packed into one watch.

The timepiece is stunning. It has a blue dial and is made with a sizable 43mm case. The case is both comfortable and large giving excellent visibility to the large dial components. The luminescent hour and time markings give this timepiece utility both in daytime and nighttime. The many dials appear like cockpit dials that you would normally see in any aircraft.

The IWC Pilot Watch Chronograph IW377714 has a very easy to read dial. The white hour markers and numerals are very large and pop out delightfully when viewing it on its stellar blue background. The timepiece is listed at only $5,500 which is a steal when you compare it against the Rolex Daytona prices today. Even a used Daytona would be more than the new IWC Pilot.

The steel band is often seen replaced with alternative bands, including both leather and rubber. The strap width is 21 mm. This is an odd size for most manufacturers. However, Rubber B takes a direct approach with fine timepieces because it custom fits its designs to exactly and precisely fit the unique timepiece itself.

Each Rubber B watchband is a Vulcanized Rubber strap, engineered to fit the IWC Pilot Chrono case and the customer’s IWC buckle. This high-tech strap is built for many years of rugged enjoyment and contains a solid insert that has been calibrated for “Blocked Integration” to the Pilot Chrono case for a flawless and secure mount. This strap is designed to mount the customer’s own IWC buckle that came with their watch.

Although this strap looks and feels identical to alligator or fabric, it is actually 100% RUBBER, and therefore waterproof for all aquatic activities including the ocean and pools.

Rubber B creates solid inserts within the strap which are calibrated for a flawless, rotationless and secure mount to the IWC  Pilot chrono watch case.
