Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312

The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312 is part of the long history of military-grade dive watches. By buying any Panerai, you are joining the throngs of Navy divers – the Italian elite special forces – who have worn these time-honored pieces of equipment.

Panerai has been designing equipment, not just watches, for the Italian armed forces for over 100 years.

Panerai pioneered the luminescent diver timepieces. Combined with the Rolex-supplied waterproof case design, the Panerai became the epitome of utility and grace under fire.  The unique locking mechanism on the crown helped protect the crown and guard it became a design that military and even movie action stars began to covet.

Panerai is unlike many elegant timepieces.  They are meant to be highly visible in the day and at night.  This means Panerai made many of their cases larger than most watch companies dared.  This not only improved the visibility of the timepiece, but the beefy nature looked natural on a muscular arm of a true warrior.

Panerai equipment is battle-tested in both great wars and is up to the challenge for weekend warriors around the globe.

Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312

The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312 is powered by an automatic mechanical movement with the Panerai P.9000 calibre at its core. This movement is made with  13¾ lignes, 7.9 mm thick, two barrels, 197 components, and 28 jewels.

It has a Glucydur® balance, and an Incabloc® anti-shock device to protect its accuracy even when it is being banged around.   It has a 3-day power reserve.

The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312 has an hours and minutes hand.  It has a small seconds window at the 9 o’clock position and a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.  It supports a waterproofness depth of 1000 feet.

The case is a beefy 44 mm in size and is powerfully built with AISI 316L brushed steel.  The polished steel bezel exudes strength and even has a spartan quality.  The locking crown gives it even more power by protecting the crown from damage.

The dark black dial is illuminated by the highly luminescent Arabic numerals and hour markers. It is protected by a Sapphire crystal, formed of corundum, 2.6 mm thick with an anti-reflective coating on both the front and back side of the timepiece.

Panerai provides an alligator strap with a large-size brushed steel buckle. The timepiece also comes with a second interchangeable strap, a tool for changing the strap, along with a steel screwdriver.

Although the 312 is not sold any longer by Panerai, it is available in the aftermarket, and Panerai released the PAM001312, which is an updated model that is nearly identical and is listed at the reasonable cost of only $7700.

A PAM104 is shown mounted with a “Blocked Integration” vulcanized rubber strap by Rubber B.
Rubber B can enhance the Panerai Luminor Marina PAM312 with its wide selection of bands that connect to it. The Panerai PAM312, with its black dial and polished steel case, has multiple coloring options. Add a dash of color to make a bold statement, or stick to a dark black and it will look transform into a business timepiece that is always ready for action.

The Solid Series is the Rubber B patented “Blocked Integration” series which has a tight-fitting band to the Panerai case.  Rubber B has 6 luxury colors to choose from in this series.

The swimskin Alligator series pictured above has the look and feel of real genuine alligator hide, but is actually 100% rubber, making it waterproof for all aquatic activities.  Swimskin Alligator comes in both expresso and jet black.

The swimskin Ballistic series has a Kevlar look to it but is also 100% pure vulcanized rubber.  It has the toughness and texture you would expect a rubber band to have while maintaining a comfortable fit.  Rubber B offers both a military green and a jet-black option in Ballistic.

The Vulchromantic Series is similar in design to the Solid Series.  It, too, employs the “Blocked Integration” of the Solid series but adds a complimentary stripe down the side, also in pure rubber. Rubber B manufactures all of its bands in Switzerland with the highest specifications, made with no coatings, blends, or bonding.

Although these bands come with a 316L Stainless Steel Tang Buckle, the original Panerai tang Buckle fits perfectly onto these straps.  For more information on all Rubber B bands visit our Panerai page here.

The Panerai case model 1950 – PAM 312 is quite thicker than other models, due to the motor for its automatic movement. This watch has a manual winding of 233. In addition, the Panerai 312 contains a quick change mechanism for watch bands. The Panerai 312 has a water resistance of 300 meters in depth. The wearer just needs to push the crown down, in order to avoid water entering the watch case.
