Rolex Predictions 2024

From April 13th through the 15th of this year, one of the most significant events in the horological community will be taking place. Watches and Wonders 2024 will be the most recent iteration of the long-running event where watchmakers from around the world showcase their most exciting pieces from their upcoming catalog of that year’s releases.

One of the most anticipated showcases of the event is often the Rolex presentation, which is a relatively recent occurrence for the company. For many years, they would present their new watches at Baselworld, but that event would end up permanently closing in 2022. As such, Rolex decided to join many other prominent watchmakers and become a part of the event last year, marking a notable sea change for the company.

In this article, we are going to look at some possible watches that Rolex may be announcing during this panel. It is important to note here at the outset that these are just predictions, and at this time, none of these watches have been officially confirmed for release yet.

Rolex Daytona With a Meteorite Dial

Of all of the speculative pieces that have been mentioned over the last several months, this is the one that we find to be the most exciting. Meteorite dials are incredibly unique, as they are made from an actual meteorite that landed in Gibeon, Namibia, and was discovered in 1838.

However, in recent years, the Namibian government has declared that the meteorite can no longer be harvested for commercial purposes. This means that Rolex meteorite dials have become incredibly rare in recent years, so the prospect of them becoming available once again is an exciting one.

GMT Master-II With a Coke Bezel

2024 is an important year for the GMT, as it marks the 70th anniversary of the watch’s introduction to the public for the first time. Rolex is a company that very much likes to commemorate anniversaries, so they will likely do something special with this watch at this year’s exposition.

They also recently filed a patent for a new type of red and black ceramic bezel, so there is a more than decent chance of this being confirmed within the next couple of months.

The Return of the Rolex Milgauss

The Rolex Milgauss has always occupied a unique space within Rolex’s product catalog. On the one hand, it has never been the company’s biggest seller or had the popularity of something like a Daytona. On the other hand, it is one of the world’s premiere science watches, and is so known in that capacity that Tony Stark wore one in several of the Iron Man/Avengers films.

When they announced that they were discontinuing the model last year, Rolex was likely surprised at the negative reception of that announcement. Between that, and the fact that anti-magnetic watches have seen a rise in popularity in recent years, Rolex is likely going to bring this model back in some capacity.

1908 Triple Calendar Moonphase

Should this watch actually be announced and released this year, it could end up stealing the show from all of the other releases that we have previously mentioned thus far. The reason for this is that, while Rolex produces amazing technological feats with their watches and crafts them in a wide variety of styles, the moon phase calendar is one place that the company has been seriously lacking in for quite some time.

For many years, the Cellini has been the only available moon phase watch that Rolex has produced, and as of last year, that product line has been phased out. Rolex making a serious attempt at a new moon phase calendar would generate a massive amount of excitement among collectors and the horological press alike.
