Stainless steel wristwatches with black coating have become a trend recently, with companies offering to customize luxury timepieces after market. Tudor has capitalized on this practice by applying a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finishing on their iconic Heritage Black Bay model, creating the Black Bay Dark (Reference: 79230DK) shown in the photo. This watch combines the quality and craftsmanship that Tudor is known for with the aesthetic that is currently in demand at a suggested retail price of 4,475 USD.
The Black Bay Dark is powered by a MT5602 self-winding mechanical movement that is manufactured in-house by Tudor. It features a power reserve of 70 hours and beats at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour. Its variable inertia oscillator is fitted with a silicon balance spring and held in place by a traversing bridge. The stainless steel case is 41mm wide and features a winding crown that has the Tudor rose engraved on it. The hour hand features the snowflake shape that is characteristic of Tudor watches. Waterproof up to 200 meters, it has a unidirectional rotatable bezel that allows you to time dives up to 60 minutes.
This Tudor divers’ watch is available with a steel bracelet coated with PVD or an aged black leather strap. Both configurations come with an additional fabric strap that features a coated buckle. Other notable design features include the depth rating inscribed in red just above 6 o’clock and a red triangle on the bezel. The color combinations chosen for the dial and bezel add to the blacked out look that places this Tudor model in its own category. For more information on this bold timepiece, visit tudorwatch.com.
