The first appearance of the Rolex DateJust was in 1945, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Rolex. This first DateJust with reference 4467, was available only in yellow gold with a gold jubilee bracelet. In addition, the first Rolex DateJust featured a creamy white dial with gold batons to mark the hours, as well a “roulette” window that showed even days in red and odd days in black. The Rolex Datejust didn’t have a magnifier date window, and was not identified as a DateJust on the watch dial, but rather as an “Oyster Perpetual”. From 1945 up until present day, countless variations on the DateJust have emerged.
