The average length of time leather and fabric watch straps last for is 1 year. A rubber strap, specifically a Rubber B vulcanized rubber strap, lasts many more years looking new. Classic straps are disposed of more frequently, creating waste and harm to our environment, while Rubber B provides a more sustainable option in the watch strap market. So, a Rubber B owner that owns a vulcanized leather strap made from pure rubber has the potential to use the rubber band for the lifetime of the timepiece.

Even if the band is used heavily and discarded, the amount of waste provided from a single Rubber B strap is potentially 10 times less than an equivalent non-rubber hide watch strap over the same period of time.  Since Rubber B straps are extremely durable, it is also a possibility that it might even last for the lifetime of the timepiece, producing no environmental waste at all.
