The world’s fascination with dive watches dates back to the 1950s, when Tudor and Rolex introduced Submariner models that would soon become iconic. Rolex still offers the Submariner model, but Tudor has introduced the Pelagos in recent years to offer fans of dive watches another option. Featuring a 500 meter depth rating and a titanium bracelet with a patented extension system, this model is well equipped to spend time underwater.
The 42 mm titanium and steel case of the Pelagos is fitted with a MT5612 self-winding mechanical movement manufactured in-house by the watchmaker with a power reserve of 70 hours. Its unidirectional 60-minute graduated bezel comes in either matt blue or black with luminescent graduations. The titanium winding crown features the Tudor logo in relief and the hour hand comes with the snowflake shape the watchmaker is known for. The date appears through an aperture at 3 o’clock and the large square hour markers offer additional luminescence, making this timepiece highly legible in the dark.
Like the Rolex Deepsea, the Pelagos uses a Helium Escape Valve to allow the tiny helium molecules to escape the case without harm while the diver is undergoing decompression. At a case size that falls between that of the Submariner and Deepsea, this dive watch offers a moderately priced alternative to both. Those who don’t like the Cyclops lens on the Submariner but still want a date function would be well suited for the Pelagos model. This model also comes in a new left-handed configuration with the crown at 9 o’clock instead of 3 o’clock.

Does the Tudor Pelagos scratch easily?
Yes, your watch will scratch no matter what. The watch can scratch no matter what material it is made of. It could happen in the ocean, at work every day, sometimes even working on the car. Watch and bracelet always show minimal scratches. The clasp that gets a bit dinged up easily. So Just have fun with it.
