Panerai’s First In-House Chronograph Calibre

Panerai P.2004 Calibre
Panerai Manufacture’s P.2004 Calibre

The first chronograph movement executed entirely by the Panerai Manufacture, the manually-wound P.2004 calibre shown above powers the watchmaker’s models with chronograph complications. The movement is 8.2mm thick with 321 components, including 29 jewels. It is equipped with a KIF Parechoc anti-shock device and a Glucydur balance.

A linear indicator displays the 8 day power reserve of this hand-wound movement. A single push piece at 8 o’clock controls the start, stop and reset functions of the chronograph, making room for the characteristic crown protecting device on the right-hand side of the case. A column wheel controls the chronograph functions with the chronograph seconds hand in the center and 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. It also features a GMT function.

Some notable Panerai models that are powered by the P.2004 calibre include the Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Ceramica (PAM00317) and the Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days Oro Rosa (PAM00344).
