Key Features of the Explorer II
The calibre 3187 provides 48 hours of power reserve. Although Rolex has not updated the Explorer II with a new caliber with 72 hour power reserve, we expect this enhancement to be added soon. The 3187 features a self-winding mechanical movement. The Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers provide stability and resistance to shocks.
The Oystersteel case and Oyster bracelet offer rugged strength to this beautiful timepiece. The 904L steel offers maximum resistance to corrosion even in the harshest environments.
The bracelet has an Oysterlock folding clasp. This prevents accidental opening. It also use an Easylink comfort link system. This exclusive system helps the wearer increase the bracelet length 5 mm at a time.
The Explorer II has a date display feature. Most notably, a bright orange 24-hour hand enables explorers to distinguish day from night. This is the ultimate tool watch for speleologists, volcanologists, mountain climbers and polar explorers.
The Explorer II timepieces have a double waterproofness system that guarantees protection to 330 feet. Owners can choose between either a black dial or a white dial on the Explorer II, and a black dial on the Explorer I.
One of the features of the new Explorer II is the fact that it uses circular hour markers with larger dashes at the 6 and 9 o’clock position. The luminescent area on the hour and second hands also are expanded for greater visibility.
Ultimate Watchband for the Rolex Explorer II
Rubber B develops the ultimate bands for the Rolex Explorer II. Above we see the newest offering from Rubber B. The band looks like Kevlar® or Twill. However, it is actually 100% rubber. This makes it entirely waterproof for all aquatic activities.
This new series of bands is called the Tang Buckle Rubber Cuff Series. It supports the 42 mm Explorer II.
It looks like a military combat strap. It incorporates a Velcro® Alfatex® for a seriously micro-adjustable fit and a 316L 20mm Stainless Steel buckle. This provides maximum comfort and quick and easy adjustments.
Rubber B bands exceed FDA and BVGG specifications. Each band is non-toxic, non-marking and non-allergen. It resists dust.
Each band is made 100% in Switzerland of pure vulcanized rubber. No coatings, blends or bonding is used in the manufacturing process – ensuring long-lasting wear.
This band has been Tortion-tested for extreme strength and durability. SwimSkin is Rubber B’s exclusive patented technology. Rubber B developed the SwimSkin over a period of several years. Unique machinery and engineering ingenuity had to be developed in order to achieve the luxurious style and durability of the SwimSkin lineup.
The SwimSkin for the Explorer II 42mm is currently available in Jet Black Twill or in Navy Blue Twill. The Explorer II has two dial options -the black and white color. Clearly the black band would look exceptionally well with the black band from Rubber B. However, the white dial would look equally stunning with either the the black or blue style band.
