The following year, his uncle bought him some studio time, allowing him the opportunity to make a professional recording of the song. The producers at the studio were so impressed with Maluma’s talent that they gave him the opportunity to record his first studio album.

Maluma’s Early Career

Maluma would release his first album, Magia, or Magic, in 2012. The album would see six out of its 19 tracks released as singles, many of which were well-received by critics and audiences. The singer would then spend the next three years working on his sophomore album, as he wanted it to live up to the expectations he had set with the success of the first one. As such, the second album would not be released until 2015.

Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy, and Mainstream Success

Maluma’s second album, Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy, would see the singer step into the risky territory of attempting a concept album. The “Pretty Boy” portion would focus on more romantic ballads, while the “Dirty Boy” side of the record was more seductive songs. The album would prove to be a large success in Colombia and cement his status as a singer worth paying attention to.

His fans would have to wait another three years before hearing from the singer, as his next record, F.A.M.E., would not be released until 2018.

He would then go on to release 11:11 in 2019 and Papi Juancho in 2020. That period of time was unusually productive for the singer, and he would end up touring both of the records with only a year of downtime in between. Most recently, Maluma released the album Don Juan, which would become available in August of 2023.

Future Projects

Maluma began touring Don Juan in 2023, and he is scheduled to continue performing the record live until the end of 2024, which means fans will likely be waiting for some time until his next album is available.
