Of all the Swiss watchmakers, Rolex is the most reticent to give in to contemporary watch trends. Their 2017 Cosmograph Daytona, equipped with an Oysterflex watchband, proves that they see rubber straps as a watchmaking material that will stand the test of time. At Baselworld 2017, their display features Daytonas in yellow, white and Everose gold equipped with their coveted Cerachrom bezel and rubber Oysterflex strap.
The Oysterflex bracelet was developed and patented by Rolex to offer the flexibility and aesthetic of an elastomer strap with the reliability and robustness of a metal bracelet. An elastic metal blade is at its core, which is then moulded with a high-performance black elastomer. It is then fitted with an 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp with an Easylink rapid extension system.
