In today’s blog post, we’ll review the life and watch collection of a champion of sports and equality, Serena Williams. Serena Williams was born September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, to parents Richard Williams and Oracene Price. Richard Williams was originally a Sharecropper from Louisiana and was determined to make his youngest twin daughters Venus and Serena into tennis superstars.

Serena Williams has been ranked number one on eight separate occasions between 2002-2017 for singles tennis matches. She holds the highest record for the most titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles match among all active tennis players combined! Serena Williams is a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist and also holds thirty-nine Grand Slam titles.

Serena William’s parents raised Serena Williams to have confidence and to chase every ball, but that didn’t mean she didn’t have personal obstacles to overcome. Over the years Serena Williams would face numerous shootdowns from critics, naming her “not the greatest” tennis player on separate occasions. Williams never let this get to her, she is known for being unabashedly herself and her poise in the face of hardship is shown on and off the courts.

Serena Williams has encouraged young girls; she’s been quoted saying “The day I stop fighting for equality, and for people that look like you and me will be the day I’m in my grave.” Serena Williams has been able to achieve an incredible amount of success over the years and is an icon of resilience and beauty.
