Tudor introduced a Heritage Black Bay Chrono at Baselworld 2017 this week, their first chronograph that is powered by a self-winding movement manufactured in-house, the Calibre MT5813. This new model configuration combines elements of the Black Bay’s marine heritage with functionality fit for the racetrack.

The steel case of the Black Bay Chrono measures 41mm in diameter with a polished and satin finish. The bezel has a tachymeter engraved in black and the screw-down winding crown is engraved with the Tudor rose. The dial is black with a date aperture at 6 o’clock and chronograph sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock. Its hour hand features Tudor’s iconic snowflake shape that dates back to 1969.

The MT5813 movement measures 30.4mm in diameter with a thickness of 7.23mm. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and offers a power reserve of 70 hours. Its technical innovations include a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, a variable inertia balance with micro-adjustment by screw and 41 jewels.

The Reference 79350 is available on a steel bracelet as shown in the above photo for 4,800 Swiss francs. It also comes with the option of a brown leather strap for 4,500 Swiss francs. Both configurations come with a denim-style jacquard woven strap in the box. For more information on this 2017 Tudor wristwatch model, visit the watchmaker’s official website at tudorwatch.com.
