Frequently Asked Questions

What tool is required to change a watch strap?

A spring bar tool is typically used to safely remove and install watch straps to the case and clasp. Additionally, some clasps may require a micro-screw driver or a push-pin tip. All of these items are inlcuded in our Strap Installation Tool Set. If your original watch strap is leather, check to see if it has a notch hole where it attaches to the clasp on the 6 o'clock side of your watch. If so, you may need a Notching Pliers Tool.

Are Rubber B Watch Tools safe for Rolex watches?

Yes. Rubber B Watch Tools are precision‑engineered for luxury watches including but not limited to Rolex, Omega, and Patek Philippe.

Can beginners use these tools?

Yes. The tools are designed for collectors and beginners alike, providing controlled leverage and precise handling. We always recommend you use tape to protect your watch lugs from your own possible "slip-ups". ;)

Do Rubber B tools work with other straps?

Yes. While optimized for Swiss Luxury Watches and their OEM springbars, screws, and bracelets, Rubber B tools also work with most high‑quality leather, rubber, and NATO straps from other brands as well. The spring‑bar tool fits any standard spring‑bar mechanism from 1.5 pins to 2.2 diameter.

What's the difference between a spring bar tool and a notching tool?

A spring bar tool removes and installs straps by manipulating the spring bars to move them toward the lug holes where they will engage.  A notching tool swiftly (one action) cuts a perfect rectangle hole in a leather or rubber strap so the strap can conform to specific pin buckles. Some examples of watches that will need a notch in their strap are the Rolex Sky-Dwellers and Rose Gold Daytona that come originally on an Alligator strap. Installers may need both tools for complete strap management for these watches. You can also use tiny scissors instead of a notch tool, but the hole will usually look sloppy and unprofessional if not made by a notching-specific tool.

How do I know which tool I need for my watch?

If you're changing straps frequently, a simple spring bar tool is essential. Rubber B does NOT recommend using wishbone tools or other overly-engineered tools, as they can complicate a simple process, making it more difficult. This is hy Rubbber B only offers the simple tools, because they always work best!

Are Rubber B tools compatible with vintage watches?

Yes. Rubber B Watch Tools work perfectly with vintage and modern luxury watches, bracelets, pins, and screws.
