Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778
The Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778 is a stunning timepiece from the Italian watchmaker. The PAM00778 has a stainless steel 44mm case Stainless steel, and a tan leather strap with tang buckle. The timepiece has a white dial with a blue Panerai logo just above the 6 o’clock Arabic numeral.
The timepiece is notable because it has a 3 day power reserve and a manually winding P.6000 caliber which powers it. It was completely crafted by Panerai at Neuchâtel. The hand-wound single barrel mechanical P.6000 calibre has 15½ lignes, is 4.5mm thick, and contains 19 jewels. It beats at 21,600 alternations/hour. It contains an Incabloc® anti-shock device. It has a mere 110 components.
The Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778 has a delightful green luminescence which is not overpowering, but clearly illuminates the hour markers, the hour, minute and small seconds hands. It is a clear and delightful transformation from a creamy tan color during the day time to the Panerai green lume in the darkness.
The timepiece does have the locking mechanism to protect the crown, which also makes the watch feel a bit larger than its 44mm diameter would suggest. This protection device is unique to Panerai, which not only helps it achieve a waterproofness of 100 meters with great confidence, but it also protects the crown from accidental damage.
Although the Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778 is currently discontinued, the timepiece is found for sale out there at some jewelers for around $5,500. If you prefer a new timepiece, there is a similar timepiece without the small seconds – the PAM00775. Or, if you like a black dial version with a blue strap, there is the PAM00777. Both timepieces are listed for $5000-$5500, new.
All three of these Panerai timepieces are 44mm wide, have a 54mm height, are 13mm thick and have a lug width of 24mm. The PAM00778 and PAM00775 have an alternating pattern of Arabic numerals, with larger numbers at the 3, 6, and 12 o’clock positions and smaller numerals for 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 o’clock. The PAM00775 is more spartan in its appearance since it doesn’t have the small seconds or even a seconds hand.
The calf leather band is an exceptionally good looking watch band for the Panerai. However, it will not withstand much in terms of water or sweat. Panerai timepieces are made to accessorize and the Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778 is no exception.
Rubber B has developed a new kind of Rubber strap which looks and feels like real Alligator but is actually 100% vulcanized rubber. This means that these straps not only will give you the same look and feel of the highly prized leather which people have been coupling with their fine timepieces for generations, but it will also withstand water, sweat and other elements that will warp and ultimately destroy normal leather straps.
Vulcanized Rubber strap engineered to fit Panerai Luminor 44mm cases (24mm lug space) and their 22mm tang buckles. Features “SwimSkin®”; our exclusively patented and innovative rubber technology mad entirely in Switzerland. No coatings, blends or bonding are used in the manufacturing of these bands. It is designed for the customer’s own Panerai tang buckle. For more information on the Rubber B Alligator Swimskin straps click here.
Rubber B has also developed the new Ballistic Series bands for the Panerai Luminor Marina Blue Logo Reference PAM00778.
