Ralph Lauren has been at the top of influencing style for decades now. Around 40 years ago, the young designer Ralph Lauren had an eye for fashion that would eventually lead him to create a global empire. 

The Northeastern preppy style that comes to mind with the Ralph Lauren brand goes beyond clothing and branches into decorations and goods for homes, and accessories as well that demonstrate a way of living. The legendary designer Ralph Lauren has created and designed timepieces, and also has his own personal collection of watches. Most recently, Ralph Lauren debuted a new timepiece he designed – the Automobile Skeleton watch, a timepiece Ralph Lauren himself is often spotted wearing. 

Cartier

It has been rumored that Ralph Lauren is a lover of Panerai watches and mid-century Cartier timepieces as well. The two brands couldn’t be more different in appearance and are opposite visually. It’s also known that Ralph Lauren is involved firsthand in the creation of his own timepiece collection.  

Ralph Lauren believes that watches are an elegant accessory, and to him, it doesn’t make much sense to wear the same timepiece every day. One of Ralph Lauren’s favorite watches is his square platinum Cartier timepiece that comes on a mesh bracelet which Ralph Lauren describes as having an Art Deco look to it. 

Ralph Lauren owns a number of Cartier timepieces, one of which has an especially interesting backstory. Ralph Lauren owns a large 1930’s era Cartier Tank Cintree in yellow gold. This Tank Cintree Ralph Lauren owns Ralph Lauren purchased at an Andy Warhol watch auction. What stood out about Andy Warhol’s Cartier to Ralph Lauren was the gold cuff that came with the timepiece, which Ralph kept while replacing the watch with another Cartier, and customizations were added to accommodate Ralph Lauren’s wrist. 

The size of Cartier watches is what Ralph Lauren describes as his favorite feature about the timepiece. Ralph Lauren prefers slimmer wristwatches to clunkier ones, especially while wearing a suit. Ralph Lauren believes Cartier timepieces and the different versions of these watches there are to choose from can tell a lot about the wearer and offer a story and vision into the wearer’s life, which Ralph Lauren hopes to achieve with his own line of timepieces. 

Rolex

Ralph Lauren doesn’t own many “everyday” timepieces, although he does admit to owning a Rolex Oyster Perpetual with the blue dial that he’s owned for years, Ralph Lauren can still be sported a Rolex GMT in peculiar the “Pepsi” reference 1675.

Panerai Luminor

Ralph Lauren decided to purchase an original Panerai Luminor while on a trip in Milian after hearing the hype that surrounded the timepieces. Ralph Lauren was surprised by all the attention he garnered from the timepiece. Ralph Lauren explained his favorite outfits to rock his Panerai which are paired with field jackets like pilots and divers wear over their jackets and wetsuits. 

IWC

Ralph Lauren owns a World War II Era IWC Pilot’s watch, which Ralph Lauren feels pairs perfectly in his watch collection with his Panerai Luminor. Recently, Ralph Lauren collaborated with the company IWC in the creation of his Ralph Lauren Automotive Skeleton watch.
