What is the History of Marvel’s Collaboration with Audemars Piguet?
Interestingly enough, this is not the first collaboration between these two storied brands. That actually occurred back in 2021, when Audemars Piguet released a limited edition set of Black Panther watches. There were only 250 of these pieces made, and they often sold for between $350,000 to $500,000 dollars.
The watch was very well-received and proved to be popular among collectors. However, it was unknown at that time if the two brands would continue to collaborate going forward, or if this would just be a one-time occurrence. Thankfully, this would prove not to be the case.
The collaboration would prove to be almost two decades in the making. The CEO of Audemars Piguet, François-Henry Bennahmias, had been wanting to work with the brand since 2003. However, he had been unable to generate a response from the company. It would take several years for this to change.
In 2010, Bennahmias would meet Don Cheadle because AP was sponsoring the Tony Awards. He gently made fun of him for wearing a Patek Phillipe watch, and the two would become friends afterward. In 2017, Cheadle was visiting Paris and met up with Bennahmias.
The CEO mentioned that he had an interest in working with Marvel, but the company had not reciprocated. Cheadle then personally called Marvel CEO Kevin Feige himself in the hopes of spurring a collaboration. These calls would ultimately prove to be successful, and the first collaboration between the two would happen four years later.
The new Audemars Piguet Spider-Man watch came as a surprise to many. The company deliberately kept this project under wraps and away from the press. They did not want information about the project leaking out until they were ready to share it with the general public.

Because the watch is so new, the information about it is somewhat limited. What is known is that the watch has a tourbillon design and complications. It has a case size of 42 mm and is encased in titanium. It has a water resistance of up to 50 meters.
