Rolex Cellini Dual Time 50525

This elegant 39mm Rolex Cellini Dual Time is an elegant throwback timepiece that is not a typical Rolex.  This is not a tool watch with dual functions but rather a dress watch, intended to be used with a suit and tie, or for indoor activities.  It doesn’t have the iconic Oyster design but is more of the Italian Pan style design which is historically one of the oldest wristwatch styles around.

Released in 2015 the Rolex Cellini Dual Time comes in both the above white dial and a brown guilloche dial option for the Everose model. The Cellini brand was named after the great 16th-century Florence/Italian artist, goldsmith, and sculptor Benvenuto Cellini.  Rolex started the Cellini line of timepieces as early as 1928.

Rolex Cellini Dual Time 50525 History

The Rolex Cellini Dual Time timepiece displays an independent second-time zone at 6 o’clock, along with the Roman Numerals located at 3, 6, 9, and 12. The watch comes in 4 different variations, a white or black dial with either white gold or Everose gold case. The Rolex Cellini features an alligator leather watch band with an 18K gold buckle, matching the watch case.

The greatest aspect of the Cellini is its simplicity. It has an elegant sunburst guilloche style pattern across the dial. The Guilloche style is found on many of the top timepieces in the world and engraving out to the outer edge in a subtle increase in the deepness of the engraving gives the timepiece a clean look. The gold hands have a solid white dial behind them and the gradual embossing doesn’t start until halfway from the center point to the edge of the dial. This draws the eyes to the beauty of the sword-like gold hands.

The same design is used in the small 2nd-time dial at 6 o’clock. In addition to the GMT function on this timepiece, there is a moon phase at the 9 o’clock position on the 6 o’clock dial. During the daytime, the space appears white rather than black with a gold moon indicator.

The gold appliques are used for all of the hour markers with the exception of the 12 o’clock position which reveals the Rolex symbol in gold. At the 2/3 position on the dial, Rolex tastefully includes a zero to 60 notation in black numerals at 5 unit intervals. Only the 60 and the 30 are missing due to the Rolex crown and the GMT dial which overlap the notations. This could help track the second’s hands around the timepiece.

Everything about this timepiece is tastefully presented. Even the winding crown is built like a Rolex crown with guilloched patterning on the crown grip. The bezel is thin with a polished gold edge and a fluted outer edge.

Rolex has seemed to remove the Rolex Cellini Dual Time from its collection of timepieces on the Rolex.com website.  In fact, there is only one Cellini on the site today which is a Cellini Moonphase

Gone too are the Cellini Dual Time and the Cellini Date models.  Rolex may be retooling the Cellini lineup and it might appear with a new version in the years to come.

For now, if you want to acquire a classic Rolex Cellini Time 50525 you will need to go to the after-market.  A Rolex Cellini Dual Time could be snatched up for around $20,000 today.

However, now, Rubber B also developed Swimskin – 100% Vegan-friendly waterproof bands made from pure vulcanized rubber.  These bands are made with the same look and feel of real leather, with the same creases that a truly leather band would have.  This process is a machine-invented solution developed over several years and perfected into making faux leather and fabric and other style bands that are fit for strength and athletic activities.

The Rubber B bracelets are made in Switzerland out of pure vulcanized rubber with leather stitched on top.  The Rubber B Structure Series bands are fitted with a 316L Stainless Steel tang buckle-providing a durable clasp that provides excellent support for a sports watch of this caliber.  For more information visit the Rubber B universal band page here.
