They fused leather onto vulcanized rubber to create a line of watch straps that offers the best characteristics of both materials. However, Rubber B was not happy with the need to keep procuring leather products and wanted something that was truly vegan friendly and something that would last far longer than leather could. They worked diligently for several years to create a mechanical process that turns real vulcanized rubber into black and brown leather looking straps. These straps look identical to actual leather but are made from pure rubber, therefore will enjoy the long lasting and water repelling features of true rubber. Rubber B called this the SwimSkin line of products.
Since Rubber B has developed SwimSkin, it no longer needs to source leather products and the company can become truly vegan friendly and sustainable with a product that is better than genuine leather, yet exudes the same beauty and quality that watch owners aspire to attain.
This is now the golden age for rubberized watchbands. Rubber B has developed the technique that allows machine generated textures beyond just leather products. Rubber B can apply the same process that it uses to generate natural leather look to generate fabric and other designs such as Kevlar. Rubber B has launched its Ballistic series which looks like true fabric but is 100% rubber.
Rubber B has also launched a NATO strap that looks and feels like real fabric but can withstand much more work and activity. It can be submerged into water and repel water, sweat and salt with ease. These bands are easy to clean and maintain and can look like new for far longer than real NATO straps made from fabric. Many of these watch bands are also made to fit the specific watch case of the finest timepieces in the world, sometimes supporting the original deployant buckle that came with it.
