The Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic – 42 mm reference PAM00655 is a stunning design which hails back to the 1940s. The dial is white and has large black and highly readable Arabic numerals corresponding to the hour markers. It has luminous dots above each numberal to provide superior visibility in dark situations. There is a small seconds dial at nine o’clock. The bezel and case are made of AISI 316L stainless steel with polished finish and has a 42 mm diameter and a 10.93 mm thickness.
On the back of the Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic is a trademark look by Panerai – a sapphire crystal through which you can admire the automatic P.4000 movement. The P.4000 calibre, the first automatic movement with an off-centre micro-rotor completely developed and made in the Panerai Manufacture at Neuchâtel. This design means that the rotor is mounted off-centre and is therefore smaller in diameter than the calibre itself: a sophisticated technical solution enabling the thickness of the movement to be substantially reduced.
The Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic is fitted with 31 jewels. The movement has a power reserve of at least three days. It is also fitted with the device which stops the balance wheel when the winding crown is pulled out, for synchronizing the watch exactly. The P.4000 calibre is produced in two versions which have two types of finish – the steel case utilizes tungsten alloy and a matt surface and the gold case utilizes a circular brushed finish, and a rotor of 22 carat gold. The new Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic reference PAM00655 is water-resistant to 300 feet.
The strap is a Calf Assolutamente, Dark brown, Beige and is a natural, untreated leather, with contrasting stitching. At RubberB we recommend removing this strap and saving it for future resale value at the time of purchase and fitting it with a more rugged and infinitely more useful replacement watchband for the Panerai Radiomir 1940. We have genuine Alligator or Full Grain Leather options, both in Black and Brown.
