The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli – Automatic Skeleton Reference RDDBEX0616 is part of a limited production of only 88 hand-crafted timepieces. It is manufactured with exclusive partnership with Pirelli: world pioneer in technical and industrial innovations and sole supplier of premium tires to the world’s flagship motorsports competitions.
The Reference RDDBEX0616 combine the yellow color motifs of the Pirelli brand through to the rubber tread in the strap reproducing the profile of a Pirelli Cinturato™ intermediate tire. The splashes of the racing yellow appear on the winding crown, on the thin line that encircles the otherwise black titanium bezel, on the thin edges of the hour and minutes hands and on the inner bezel surrounding the luminescent hour markers. Pirelli yellow is also used on the stitching of the bracelet.
The RDDBEX0616 is uniquely light due to the Roger Dubuis focus on using the fewest number of parts necessary in the design. The Reference RDDBEX0616 is made of only 167 components. It is powered by a caliber RD820SQ containing a hand-wound mechanical movement with 60 hours of power reserve. It is made with 35 jewels and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The charcoal grey rhodium plated circular grained plate has exquisite Poinçon de Genève finishings throughout and touches of Pirelli yellow on the winding gears.
The inner dial utilizes luminescent dots to represent the hour markers 1 through 11. The Roger Dubuis name appears in black lettering on yellow at the 12 o’clock position. The case is 45 mm and has a water resistance of 50 meters. It comes with a dual material strap with black rubber as the base and grey calf inlay and black stitching with an adjustable folding buckle. The RDDBEX0616 has undergone extreme testing and received the Hallmark of Geneva seal guaranteeing its durability, performance, water resistance and precision.
Rubber B collaborated with Roger Dubuis to create an exclusive strap designed specifically for the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Skeleton Reference RDDBEX0616 45 mm case and deployment clasp. This is engineered to work with the quick-release system of the Excalibur Spider but can also support models that do not come with the quick-release. The quick release system is a unique system allowing timepiece owners the ability to completely change the look of their Roger Dubuis creation by interchanging bands with various color palattes to suit their needs and tastes at the moment. These bands can be attached to the original deployment clasp that came with the original timepiece.
All Rubber B vulcanized rubber bands are 100% waterproof and are made in Switzerland of pure natural rubber. Although the yellow rubber base and yellow stitching and the black base with yellow stitching option look spectacular with the Reference RDDBEX0616 there are several base colors and alternative color threads used for stitching available to allow the Roger Dubuis timepiece owner a tremendous number of style options.
