Rubber B has a variety of straps in different colors and styles in our product portfolio that are appropriate for both business/formal wear and more casual situations.

Steel vs White Gold: Stainless steel is less expensive than white gold. While stainless steel is scratch-resistant, white gold is susceptible to wear and tear. When compared to white gold, stainless steel is more durable and does not break as easily.

For this article, we look at models reference 116509 and 116500LN Rolex Daytona that include the same movement inside the timepiece. However, the material that these watches are made out of differs in many ways.

Material and Availability – Steel vs White Gold

The vibrations of a worldwide recession have been reflected in the second-hand watch market. While market prices for many brands and styles are falling as demand declines, there are a select few that are increasing and hold the rich veins of desire for consumers seeking specific and new materials.

The Rolex Daytona ref. 116509 is one extremely opulent chronograph. There are several dial choices, all of which distinguish the watch from the traditional stainless steel Daytona. To be sure, this watch is an indulgence.

What are the differences between Steel vs White Gold?

White gold has a rich luster, whereas stainless steel has a dazzling sheen. The stainless steel model is less costly than that the white gold version because it’s easier to manufacture. While stainless steel is scratch-resistant, white gold is susceptible to wear and tear. When opposed to white gold, stainless steel is more robust and does not scratch as easily. White gold is simpler to bend and mold, whereas stainless steel retains its shape indefinitely. White gold is a valuable metal and is seen as a status symbol. Stainless steel is easier to manufacture and is less precious in the material.

What is stronger Steel vs White Gold?

In its soft, fully annealed form, stainless steel has a Vickers hardness of roughly 155, but when fully hardened, it may reach 390 Vickers, which is 70% tougher than platinum or white gold. This indicates that stainless steel will outlast white gold and platinum in terms of wear, dents, dings, and scratches.

The white gold 116509 Rolex Daytona features a Navy Blue sunburst dial with white and red accents; it was launched at Baselworld in 2016. It is a 40mm timepiece and is only 12.2mm in thickness, making it thin enough that it fits under a cuff of a shirt elegantly. The 116509 is recommended for wrist sizes as small as 13.5mm in circumference.

The 116509 Rolex Daytona is an excellent dress watch option and aesthetically resembles steel. The outsides of the links are made of Rolex’s gray-gold and are 18k white gold though and though. The 116509 has satin polished center links on the bracelet and shoulders and includes removable links that are fixed by screws. The internals of the 116509 is polished making this watch known as a higher-end timepiece. The 116509 features Rolex’s lift-lock system with the beak and hook mechanism and will lock again with the clamshell on the timepiece clasp; as well as Rolex’s easy-link 5 mm quick adjustment system so you can easily remove or add one link.

This Rolex Daytona 116509 is not like other Rolex in that it’s similar to the circular look of the Rolex’s from the past such as the Rolex Datejust or the Rolex Day-Date, it features more circular angles overall and more complex curves as well. The 116509 includes a white gold triple crown with 100 meters depth of water resistance and a vertical clutch system for a smooth start and stop the countdown.
