Perfect for anyone with an affinity for the sea, Panerai’s latest watch series features Luminor and Radiomir models with ocean blue sun-brushed sandwich dials that diffuse light to create a beautiful effect when reflecting the sun’s rays. The photo above shows the Luminor 1950 10 days GMT (PAM00689) with a polished 316L stainless steel case and dark blue alligator leather strap.
The 44mm case is fitted with an automatic mechanical P.2003 movement manufactured by Panerai and features their KIF Parechoc® anti-shock device and a power reserve of 10 days. A GMT function with an am/pm display allows the wearer to keep the time of different timezones simultaneously, with an hour hand that jumps back and forth from hour to hour independent of the minute hand.
The dial has a date aperture at 3 o’clock, a power reserve indicator above 6 o’clock and am/pm and seconds display at 9 o’clock. It has a 24-hour hand and arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock. The crown protecting device that is characteristic of all Luminor 1950 models is made of brushed steel to contrast with the polished bezel and case. The case back is made of see-through sapphire crystal, revealing the inner workings of the calibre.
Designed with the ocean in mind, this watch is water resistant to 10 bars (100 meters). It is both sporty and elegant, with an interchangeable strap for those who spend time below the surface of the water. The blue color of the dial sets this model apart from other Panerai models, bolstering the nautical aesthetic that is characteristic of the watchmaker.
