Born May 22, 1970, in London, England, Naomi Campbell was a professional model by the age of 15. She was recruited by a modeling agency at age 14 while at a mall in London with her mother. The modeling agent approached her and she was immediately booked for the first gig she got, she was signed by Elite Modeling Agency. A year later, at age 16, Naomi Campbell was hired by Ford Modeling Agency in 1986. Since then, has become one of the world’s very first supermodels, she’s been featured on over 500 magazine covers, such as French Vogue, American Vogue, and Time Magazine. She’s walked the catwalk for many well-known designers as well – Versace, Isaac Mizrahi, and Vivian Westwood.
Naomi Campbell has her own reality show called “The Face” which premiered and aired in 2013. She’s appeared in 15 movies, 9 music videos, and countless TV shows. She was most recently featured in two episodes of FX American Horror Story Hotel in 2015. She got the role on AHS while having been seated next to Ryan Murphy at a dinner party. Naomi Campbell’s very first public appearance was in Bob Marley’s music video for the song “Is This Love”, this was exciting for Naomi because her mother is also Jamaican.
Personal Life
Campbell has dated many A-listers like herself in the past. She’s dated Mike Tyson and Robert De Niro and was engaged twice. She was engaged to Adam Clayton in 1993, but they split that following year. After that, she was engaged to Formula 1 race car driver Flavio Briatore in 1998, but they broke up in 2003. Naomi Campbell has no kids.
Naomi Campbell is also well known for her charity work. She has two charities which she established herself. In 2005, she started a charity “We love Brazil” which sold fabrics all made by Brazilian women. That same year, Naomi Campbell started the “Fashion for Relief” charity, which organized fashion shows to raise funds for various emergency relief efforts such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Mumbai terrorist attacks in 2008, and the Hati earthquake in 2010, and the earthquake in Japan in 2011.
