Omega Seamaster 300 & Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage Ultimate Straps Guide

Omega Seamaster 300 & Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage Ultimate Straps Guide

The Omega Seamaster 300 is one of the finest dive watches made today. There are several benefits of the Omega Seamaster line over the Rolex Dive watches other than their lower price point. It is true that although you might have to pay $20k to get a steel Rolex Dive watch, whereas you could pick up a steel Seamaster Diver 300 for as little as $5k. However, this is only one of the benefits of the Omega diver.

Omega is one of the top watch brands in the world. It has made waves over the years, by even topping Rolex by being selected for the moon missions of NASA. It has also been the timepiece of choice of the James Bond series since the 1990’s.

Commander Bond has been seen wearing many Omegas throughout the series, even creating a conversational starter with the beautiful Vesper Lynd, who asked if Bond was wearing Rolex at their first meeting. Bond responded that he was wearing Omega. Vesper simply said, “Beautiful.”

Beautiful is the word that could describe basically every Seamaster made today, no matter if it is one of the modern 300M dive watches or a heritage model that harkens back to the original style of 1940’s and 1950’s.

Omega Seamaster 300

One of the unique things about the Omega Seamaster 300 series is the fact that it has an extensive array of options to choose from. It isn’t limited to just a single look. In fact, the Omega 300M has a tremendous selection of some of the finest looking timepieces.

There are models with rubber straps and with steel straps. They have all steel options, and dual steel with gold options. The rubber straps aren’t limited to just a basic black rubber. In fact, the blue dial Diver has a blue strap, the green dial diver has a green strap, in addition to the popular black strap option. They even have a model with hour markers with aged patina coloring on the timepiece that looks antique but is actually a modern diver with the popular look that collectors want. One unique model is a black ceramic timepiece with black features throughout and a black rubber strap.

Many of the timepieces feature an open-worked transparent back allowing you to see the beautiful movement inside the timepiece. Several Omega’s are part of a limited-edition collection which can help increase the value of these timepieces over time. The size of the case is often larger than the Rolex counterpart. Larger case sizes is a feature that collectors have been clamoring for in recent years.

The Omega timepiece is no less “superlative” than the Rolex equivalent. They have anti-magnetic features which mean it is unaffected by exposure of strong magnetic fields under 15,000 gauss. It is a Master Chronometer certified by both COSC and METAS. It is made with Grade 2 Titanium which is solid and corrosion resistant.

It supports a dive depth of up to 1000 feet, which is enough to support 98% of all divers in the world. Like the Rolex equivalent they have a helium escape valve that will help exit dangerous gasses from the dive watch, protecting the sapphire crystal from building up pressure inside the watch and causing the crystal to pop off during the most inopportune time…essentially destroying the watch in the process.

There are various calibers used in the Seamaster 300M, including the 2500, 2220, 3603, 8800, 8801, 8806, 8807, 9900 and 9901. One of the reasons for this is that Omega offers Dive Chronographs, which are unique in the world of dive watches. Dive watches are often just limited to a rotating bezel allowing the diver to estimate their available oxygen time. However, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M also provides pushers at the 2 and 4 o’clock position in order to support chronograph features on two dials at 3 and 9 o’clock. By adding the date aperture to the 6 o’clock position, Omega creates a truly balanced timepiece which is powerful both in form and function.

The Omega Heritage Seamaster 300 Series

The Omega Seamaster 300 series was introduced in 1957. In honor of this time tested model, Omega produced several models in the Heritage series including all yellow gold, two tone gold and stainless steel and models that have leather straps. It has multiple color options including blue and green dials. The Heritage models have 41mm cases, a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on both the front and transparent caseback. The hour markers are triangular shaped with vintage Super-Luminova filling for extreme visibility in daylight and darkness.

The Heritage series has all of the features of a modern dive watch including supporting a 1000 foot depth, modern luminescence, sapphire crystal, a modern in-house designed caliber, and extreme anti-magnetic features. However, it still maintains the historical look that collectors are accustomed to – especially the historical patina that are generally only found in 40 year old watches.

Rubber B straps for the Omega Seamaster 300m and the Heritage Seamaster 300

Rubber B offers a comprehensive rubber straps guide to the Omega Seamaster 300 watch & the Seamaster 300 heritage. The Omega rubber straps are made by Rubber B in Switzerland of the finest vulcanized rubber available. These watch straps are made for strength and beauty and are perfect compliments for dive timepieces.

There are many reasons to acquire an aftermarket rubber strap for your fine Omega timepiece. First, collectors may want to preserve the value of their timepiece by storing the original band with the box and papers so that it could be resold with an unused band in the distant future.

One of the most popular reasons for changing the band is to change the look of the timepiece itself. Rubber B offers many types of band styles and colors including NATO looking straps, bands that look like actual Kevlar fabric or leather hide but are actually rubber and are perfect for aquatic activities.

One of the best reasons to buy a Rubber B band is because it is tremendously comfortable and convenient. The supple rubber feels better against your skin than metal and yet it has tremendous strength. It is also convenient to clean and wear anywhere, whether it be the board room or the beach.
