The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is the largest museum in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking. The Academy Museum offers exceptional exhibitions and programs that illuminate the world of cinema. The museum focuses on the art, technology, artists, history, and social impact of movie-making from various perspectives and throughout the history of time.

The museum presents a year-round calendar of screenings, film series, member programs, panel discussions, family programs, and symposia. Programs will include retrospectives and thematic series that illuminate the artistic and cultural contributions of an international selection of movie artists.

There are collections from legends such as Cary Grant, Alfred Hitchcock, and more. There is an Oscars Experience which transports you to the stage and allows you to experience winning an Oscar on a virtual simulation stage that is an immersive experience.

There is a Rolex Gallery which is a permanent multi-room experience on the 3rd floor of the museum. Here is displayed a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 6239 previously owned by Paul Newman and has the engraving “Drive Carefully, Me” inscribed by his wife, actress, Joanne Woodward. She was concerned for his safety when he took up car racing.

Rolex has long had ties to the cinema. Rolex timepieces have been proudly worn on the silver screen by Marlon Brando, Sean Connery, Robert Redford, and Clark Gable, among many others.

Rolex has become tied to multiple film ambassadors including time-honored directors Martin Scorsese and James Cameron. With Scorsese, Rolex partnered on the Protégé Arts Initiative, which since 2002 has paired promising young talents in a variety of artistic disciplines with masters in their field for a period of creative collaboration.

Rolex also had ties to multiple mentors including Kathryn Bigelow, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón, and Spike Lee.

Unlike other brands, Rolex has appeared on screen by choice. Rolex never paid for product placement as other brands have done. Rolex has always tied itself to excellence, innovation, creativity, and ambition. The partnership with the Academy joins many of Rolex’s ventures – such as its support for Golf, Tennis, Yachting, Car Racing, and many other events that Rolex sponsors year after year.
