Tudor Black Bay Dark & Tudor Black Bay Ceramic

Occasionally, one of the things that we like to do is pair up two watches to see how they compare to one another, especially if they are manufactured by the same company. Today we are going to take a closer look at two entries in Tudor’s legacy Black Bay line – the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic, and the Tudor Black Bay Dark.

What Do You Need to Know About the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic?

Having been released just this year, the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic is the newest watch in the Black Bay product line, and it offers a lot of firsts for both the Black Bay family and Tudor as a whole. Tudor had never mass-produced a ceramic Black Bay before this one, and this is also the first watch Tudor has produced to be certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Meteorological Society.

The Black Bay Ceramic measures 41 mm in diameter and is powered by the MT5602-1U caliber, and it has a power reserve of up to 70 hours, which is much higher than the average for a luxury watch. It is waterproof for up to 660 feet and has a sleek, elegant ceramic casing that makes for an absolutely stunning watch suitable for work or leisure time.

What Do You Need to Know About the Tudor Black Bay Dark?

The Tudor Black Bay Dark was originally released in 2016, and before we look at the specifics of this watch, it is important to note that, as of this time, this piece has been discontinued by Tudor. That means that while it is not impossible to find, it may be more difficult to procure than a regular watch would be, and you may end up paying a bit more for it.

In many ways, the Tudor Black Bay Dark is similar to its successor, the Black Bay Ceramic. Both watches measure in at 41 mm, and they both operate on the same caliber, the MT5602. They even have similar-looking dials and are both waterproof for up to 660 feet.

The most significant difference between the two is the casing, as the Black Bay Dark is encased in stainless steel with a black PVD coating.
