Did you know that psychologists have done studies and found that the more choices a person has in any given situation, the longer it is likely going to take them to actually make a choice about said situation?

However, this finding does not just apply to things like choosing a restaurant – it can manifest in other places too, such as picking out the appropriate clothing item for a given situation.  And with so many available watch straps to choose from, how is a person supposed to know what strap to put on their Rolex, and during what time of year or activity?

Thankfully, Rubber B is here to help answer exactly those types of questions. To that end, we have put together a useful guide that will allow for making more informed decisions, based on our experience and expertise, about what kinds of watch bands are suitable for which kinds of situations.

An Important Note About Terminology For This Article

In the watch industry, the terms “band” and “strap” are often used interchangeably when writing about watches and their related accessories. However, that could get a little confusing for the subject matter of this particular article, so we’ve decided to simplify things a bit to help clarify exactly what we’re talking about.

For our purposes here, if we use the term “strap,” we are referring to a rubber watch strap, and if we use the term “bracelet,” we are talking about a bracelet that is made out of metal.

How Does the Weather Play Into Choosing the Correct Straps For Your Rolex?

As we move throughout this article, we will get more into detail about situations that you choose to be in (i.e. work vs home, etc.), but at the outset, we’d like to focus on something that you have no control over at all – and never will: the weather. Specifically, we’d like to take a moment to focus on the seasons.

You may not realize it, but the weather is important when it comes to picking out what type of watch attachment you should use for your Rolex. In the summer and spring seasons, you would most likely prefer a rubber strap, while in fall and winter, you may like using your more formal metal Rolex bracelet.

Bracelets, on the other hand, do not fair as well in the active summer months, and therefore they are a little more suited to fall and wintertime, where you’re less likely to be doing those types of activities, but more likely to be spending time at office holiday parties, or other places, that require a little more polish in terms of your wardrobe.

What Else Should I Know About Choosing the Right Attachment for My Rolex?

Another important factor to keep in mind when deciding between a strap or a bracelet for a Rolex is what is on your agenda for the day. Depending on the answer to that question, it can make it easier to choose an attachment that is appropriate for the situation.

If you are doing any athletic type of activity, you would be best served by selecting a rubber strap for your watch, as they’re lighter, more stable on your wrist, and the rubber material can very well handle the salty preparation and harsh aggressions from any grime you may encounter. Rubber straps are also great for when you are in a more casual situation, such as relaxing with your friends on the weekends or swimming.

By contrast, if you are at work or a formal event, we would recommend going with the bracelet in those kinds of situations. The bracelet is a bit more formal and lends your outfit more gravitas as the day or evening continues to roll on.
