The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Ceramica PAM 441 is an unbelievable timepiece and a great representative Panerai timepiece that all Paneristi’s can be proud of. This timepiece has solid construction from black ceramic on its 44 mm case. The trademark locking nut protects the winding crown from accidental damage and also provides a tighter seal when diving down under water.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days gets its name from the 1950 style Panerai timepiece. The 44 mm case is a nice medium size case which is bigger than the 42 mm Panerai but much smaller than the 47 mm timepieces. The locking nut does give the Panerai a bigger overall feel to it.

Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Ceramica PAM 441

The PAM00441 is not currently in production by Panerai, but it was produced between 2010 and 2020. It has Arabic numerals that have a beige look to them, but are quite bright at night with the excellent Panerai luminescence.

Similar to many of the new Rolex timepieces, the Panerai PAM00441 is built with ceramic material and this is emblazoned on the black dial with the word “Ceramica” right above the 6 o’clock position. It is built to withstand a depth of 330 meters. It has a strong scratch-resistant sapphire glass on both the front and the back of the timepiece.

The sandwich dial provides a cutout on the top layer – the black layer of the dial. Underneath is the beige luminescent layer. This provides an excellent 3D effect and also eliminates the possible ink spread that happens over time on some timepieces. On a Rolex they often surround the lume paint with metal. Panerai chose to use cutouts which adds a subdued layered effect without requiring the additional metal.

The sapphire glass is both scratch resistant and tightly protects the water resistance to 330 feet on both sides of the timepiece. The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Ceramica PAM 441 is powered by an in-house movement based on the manifattura design of the 6152 launched in 1950. The caliber P.9001 was released in 2009 and has 29 jewels and beats at a frequency of 28,800. It is made from 227 parts and features not only an hour and minute hand, a small seconds window, a date window and a 24 hour hand for its GMT function. It has a Glucydur® balance, and an Incabloc® anti-shock device. Interestingly it has a power reserve indicator visible through the back of the timepiece.

The extra 24 hour hand provides an exceptional GMT function to this timepiece. It has a triangle tip with luminescence. It has a demure effect since it is about as unlike the Rolex GMT Master II as you can get in a competing GMT timepiece. It doesn’t have a 2 tone and gawdy bezel. Instead it is a matte black throughout the bezel and case. Even the dial and hands are black. If it wasn’t for the luminescent hands, it might seem to you that the hands will disappear amidst the black material.

The timepiece has a healthy 72 hour power reserve which gives you nearly 3 days of power. The band is a brown aged calf skin which appears heavily worn even though it is new. It has a tang buckle which is blackened like the case.
