Rolex Vs Omega – The battle between the timepiece titans continues as Rolex and Omega announce new models. For decades, these two renowned companies have been at the forefront of horology, each with its own distinct charm and craftsmanship. Let’s have a look at the current trends and offerings from these horological behemoths. Rolex vs Omega Releases delves at some of the most intriguing trends of the world’s two finest watchmakers. Clearly, the trendy trend for collectors is to acquire everything with the Rolex name.

Rubber B Bracelet Options for the Yacht-Master 40mm

Omega is not blind to the fact that Rolex is quite possibly the hottest brand in the world today, perhaps the hottest brand in the history of brands. Perhaps it is homage but it is probably more due to the need to ride the trend, Omega has made timepieces that nearly mimic the look and style of Rolex. In fact, if you look at the Omega Seamaster lineup and compare it to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual lineup, you will see that the watches look eerily similar and even the color options are pretty closely matched.

Of course, if you were a purist and said Well the hour markers for Rolex are slightly different from the Omega, you would be right, but a casual observer would easily see that the Omega and the Rolex looked essentially the same. However, although the MSRP price is nearly identical the Omega could be had for thousands less than the Rolex. The Omega Seamaster reference 220.10.38.20.03.003 shown above has a blue dial, 38mm case, and is water-resistant to 500 feet. It looks very similar to the 36mm Rolex Reference 124200 which has slightly less resistance to 330 feet. The MSRP price on the Rolex is actually about $500 less than the Omega, but in reality, you would likely pay much more than the Omega for roughly the same-looking timepiece.

Although it is clear in the Rolex vs Omega releases that Omega has sought to mimic the Rolex brand up and down the line, both brands are exceptionally good timepieces. Although great watches tend to try and do something different and uniqueness is a highly prized statement that watchmakers aspire to, since the market is so red-hot, customers are demanding more. They want to be instantly gratified, and so Omega is feeding that trend. Rather than wait on a waiting list for a Rolex Timepiece, someone can walk into an Omega store and pick up essentially the same timepiece without waiting. That being said, even Omega is starting to see some wait for some of its own timepieces. Let’s compare some of the obvious copy jobs that Omega pulled off this year.

The Rolex Reference 116515LN pictured above is one of the hottest and most marketed Rolex timepieces in recent times. Not only is it an amazing Daytona watch, it is made from “Everose” gold and has a chocolate dial with a rubber strap. The Omega reference 310.62.42.50.99.001 created its own “Moonshine” gold chronograph using the same 3-dial Panda look and rubber strap.

The Omega does have a see-through back which is something Rolex hasn’t done much of at all. The case is slightly larger at 42mm which is a benefit of the Omega since many collectors seem to gravitate towards the larger-sized watches.

Rolex Vs Omega Hulk

One of the finest decisions Omega made this year was to come out with this “HULK” version of the Omega Seamaster with a rubberized band. Rolex, for some reason, decided to dump the fan-favorite green bezel plus green dial and opted to just release a new Black dial with a Green bezel version. The Rolex Reference 126610LV is a good-looking watch, but fans of the green hulk dial will have to go buy a used “Hulk” from previous Rolex releases, or, just switch completely to this incredible Omega reference 210.32.42.20.10.001.

With a cost of only $5,100, this Omega “Hulk” watch is a bargain. It is slightly bigger than the Rolex with a 42mm case, over the 41mm size for the Rolex Submariner. It also supports a 1000-meter waterproof depth just like the Submariner. However, it also has a visible back so you can see the beauty of the workmanship of the automatic movement when you flip the watch over. The Rolex does have a slightly better caliber with a 70-hour power reserve, over the 55-hour power reserve of the Omega timepiece.

There is no question that the Rolex Deepsea timepiece has captured the imagination of divers all over the world. It is an outstanding accomplishment, which James Cameron filmed as they actually took this timepiece into the deepest parts of the ocean. And it survived. It is also one of the most popular timepieces in the Rolex collection. I believe this is large because of the large 44mm case and its extreme strength.

However, Omega decided to mimic the success of the Rolex Deepsea with its newest offering – the Seamaster Planet Ocean 6000m. This new reference 215.30.46.21.03.001 is larger than the Deepsea with a 45.5mm case, and it can go even deeper. It can go 20,000 feet deep rather than 12,800 feet for the Rolex Deepsea. 20,000 leagues under the sea is truly possible with the Omega Planet Ocean 6000m. It is no longer just a fictional book title. Although there are few people in this world that would ever attempt to challenge a depth of this magnitude, this is still an unreal timepiece and accomplishment from a design perspective. Yet. Omega has nearly copied the look of the Rolex Deepsea by even using a transitioning Blue to black dial and by using the name “Ultra Deep” which could easily confuse a buyer of the “Deep” sea brand. At $11,600 this timepiece isn’t cheap, but it is at least available for people that want to be part of this tradition of conquering the deepest parts of the planet.

Whitek Dream Strap For Omega Moonswatch Red

Although we have spent a lot of time talking about how Omega has latched onto the success of Rolex and is targeting some of Rolex’s most profitable timepieces both brands have come out with some new releases that are quite unique. From the Omega side, the most unique series of timepieces include the Omega + Swatch combination where the timepieces use Quartz Power, the colors of Swatch, and the design of the Omega Moon Watch. Pictured above is the Mission to Uranus Speedmaster which has the blue Tiffany look to its case. It is a gorgeous timepiece for a small price of $260. It has a velcro strap. This is a series that focuses on the 11 planets of the universe and 11 different color patterns. This series presents an incredible set of watches, with plenty of swatch styles at a very affordable price. Since they are not part of a limited offering, it should be easy to get your hands on one.

Rolex Vs Omega Releases – This is the new Rolex Yacht-Master

For Rolex, setting the bar higher often means just making small changes to existing lineups. Although they made some nice changes to the Rolex Air-King, the GMT Master II, and the Datejust 31, this new Yacht-Master 42mm with Gold and an Oysterflex Bracelet is sure to be one of the best. Previous Yacht-Masters launched the Rolex Oysterflex line, but it was on steel or white gold case. This larger gold case puts the Yacht-Master in a luxury class all of its own. It is also powered by one of the finest calibers in the industry – the caliber 3235.
