The hour markers and hands are filled with blue Chromalight luminescence to maintain legibility even underwater. Other innovations featured on this timepiece are the blue Parachrom hairspring in the oscillator of the movement and the Triplock winding crown that seals the case with three layers of protection.

The quality and craftsmanship of the rolex submariner lv is evident, but what had people scratching their heads upon its release is the color combination. We tend to see stainless steel watches with their a black, white or blue bezel and dial combination. The watchmaker has used the color green on yellow gold models, which makes sense based on the analogous characteristics of the colors.
